So, they aren't responsible for anything and we can't use our credit card company's chargeback/dispute resolution if we have a problem with them. Does everyone put up with this, or do you pay in advance all the time?

GunBroker chargeback agreement

After all the times I've been wrong when I thought something was illegal, I sure hope I'm right when I think something's legal!

I always use money order or cashiers check,
However, I don't think GunBroker would have any legal standing to interfere with a member's agreement with their credit card company. If you're cheated by a seller and you do a charge-back with your credit card company what is GunBroker going to do, say "hey you can't do that!?""Everyone must determine for themselves what level of tyranny they are willing to tolerate.
I let my CA residency expire in 2015." -
You can still use the chargeback feature against the user, just not against them.
Gunbroker is stating they are not responsible if you get screwed. Same thing applies if you send a money order to someone. You can't go after Gunbroker if the seller/buyer screws you.Artist formally known as CEO of Tracy Rifle and PistolComment

Yeah sort of like paypal reversed. You can file claim with paypal and they will pursue on your behalf. You can't file a claim like that with gunbroker. Deal with credit card company direct.Comment

Doesn't that defeat the point of using Gunbroker though?
I only buy from well reviewed dealers on Gunbroker, those shops have no reason to take my money and run. I also use USPS money order so taking my money and run means mail tempering which is felony.
There are ways to be secure with gunbroker. I stay away from new sellers.Comment

Not exactly. I have gotten multiple deals that had I purchased them on calguns rather than bidding on gunbroker, would have been expensive. I have no problem having a dealer ship to my ffl, but find it more convenient to drive to the shop and deal with everything there.Doesn't that defeat the point of using Gunbroker though?

If I have a problem with a seller on GB and wanted to do a chargeback, not sure how GB would even be involved in the chargeback, that would be between me and the seller. I don't pay GB for the firearm, GB doesn't act as an escrow agent, etc.Jack
Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

They don't, but I do. If I agree to their terms, then I just agreed not to do it. You can agree not to do something, even if an agreement with someone else says you get to do it. Unless there's some law banning that kind of agreement, I think it's legal.
Not that I think it's likely, but what if I have a problem with them? If they charge me for something that I don't owe them, and they don't fix it, my only legal recourse would be to sue.
I suppose if it's not a big amount, then I let them take my money, but if it is, then I let them ban me since I wouldn't be happy with them at that point. Still, that's probably breach of contract. I don't like the idea of giving someone legal authority to charge my account without me having a way to cancel it.
Makes sense. They don't "auction", they just host interactive ads.Gunbroker is stating they are not responsible if you get screwed. Same thing applies if you send a money order to someone. You can't go after Gunbroker if the seller/buyer screws you.
Sorry, I messed up the context. It might not have anything to do with issues with sellers.
Am I correct in understanding that you don't give GunBroker any payment information unless you're selling something? If the payment info goes to the buyer without going through GunBroker, I guess this is a non-issue.1st Generation Gun Owner
