Legal to own the stock. Can't install it without also installing some kind of mag lock, and not many want to do that on their M1 Carbine, unless it's a crappy Universal.
Edit: there's no reason you can't sell it in California. The legal onus is on the guy who buys it and what he does with it.Last edited by Mitch; 10-27-2014, 8:59 AM.Originally posted by cockedandglockedGetting called a DOJ shill has become a rite of passage around here. It will fit a GI Carbine, but is actually for a Plainfield aftermarket Carbine.
So there is no Grandfathered clause about anything made before a certain Date? Likely not, but I ask as I surely do not know..
Have been gone from there over 20 years now..
I have actually been toying with the thought of trying to fit a .22 rimfire action in it just for something different. Would not want to modify anything permanently though, but I think I could do it with some sort of wood inserts made to fit in the stock, and the action of the donor .22 rifle adapted to the insert. They are hard to find and pretty rare..Last edited by AR22; 10-27-2014, 9:15 AM.Comment

If the M1 Carbine is a registered assault weapon, registered before 2000, it could legally be fitted with that stock. But the only reason anyone would have registered an M1 Carbine as an assault weapon is because it already had a paratrooper or similar stock, so it's unlikely they'd want your stock as well.Originally posted by cockedandglockedGetting called a DOJ shill has become a rite of passage around here. I beleve the M1 Carbines were never included on the semi auto ban listIf the M1 Carbine is a registered assault weapon, registered before 2000, it could legally be fitted with that stock. I think it is considered as a relic: Here's the assault weapon ban list!

Go ahead and sell it here. The buyer will have to "pin" the stock and put a mag lock on his receiver, but someone will want it.Comment
