converting 15 rd mag to 10?

I recently purchased a PPQ M2 9mm from my LGS. They said they would be blocking the factory mags to 10. I have been looking online to find factory 10rd mags but have found none. If my LGS can legally modify the 15 rd mag how do I go about getting more mags for them to modify? Is this possible? I understand the legal thought that the modification must be permanent but is it safe to say if it's good enough for my LGS then it's good enough for me? Or am I just being ignorant.

Buy mags have then sent to your ffl to block for you. Or have them order you some.

Sorry I am new to firearm ownership. Isn't the problem getting the mag shipped to you if they know california can't have 15 round mags?

That's why you don't get it shipped to you. Your ffl gets it and you pay them to block it.

Yes, it depends on the source. Nobody will send a high capacity mag to your mailbox though.

Some will be willing to ship directly to a California 07FFL who can block the mags for you.

Others will ship to a middleman (usually an FFL in Arizona/Nevada/Oregon) who will then ship to your 07FFL here in California.

For example, Springfield Armory won't send hicap mags to California but will send them to Oregon. Table Rock Arms in Oregon receives them and sends them to OC Firearms who then blocks them. Alternatively, the magazines are sent to Audiophil in Arizona who blocks them and sends them to your mailbox.

Back to your original question, a permanently castrated high capacity mag is legal in California. The method your LGS may employ (rivets or epoxy) will generally be accepted by LEOs as following the law.

LEOs have no restrictions on importing high capacity mags.

I'll add to this that there are also 07 FFLs who do not have high cap permits, so don't assume that because they have an 07, they can automatically accept a high cap shipment.
