    SAF Donations Letter

I'm a life member of the Second Amendment Foundation. http://www.saf.org/

I like what they're doing on the legal side, just like the NRA, and Calguns Foundation. Being a member of SAF, I got a letter asking for more donations in the mail. It's normal and expected. I've received these before from many different organizations - they usually include useful information and coherent explanations of accomplishments and what the extra money will be used for.

SAF is obviously doing great things and they should get financial support (i'm not rich at all but give what I can every year), but I was a little surprised at this letter full of incomplete sentences, no facts, emotional blabber, and BS "ID Number" with timestamp. Just feels like they're trying to reach an audience of idiots. I kind of cringed reading it. As you know, the Anti-2A people like to generalize gun owners as uneducated, ignorant, redneck hilbillies who are scared of their guns being taken away so I hate seeing a letter almost pandering to that kind of audience.

Just criticizing what I think is a terrible example of reaching out to 2A supporters. I would still advocate donating money to SAF - they really are doing great things, but their outreach is terrible.

Haha, exactly what I thought at first with the tone and grammar. At least the spelling is correct.

"Can't let all this die. You and all gun owners would be hurt"

"This will pay past-due bills and get us through September" - makes me wonder how good they are with managing their money. But I really just don't believe that statement is anything except a poor strategy to light a fire under people's asses to donate money.

"Have told creditors and staff that you will come through for me."

It hurts my head reading this thing.

I would get a hold of someone at SAF. That thing sounds bogus.

Yeah, I think that letter was sent from the same jerks who call me at 10:45 at night telling me that they are from Microsoft and my computer has been sending them error messages...

Unfortunately, it's real. Got another one in the mail today that sounded very similar. Recently joined SAF, so makes sense. Happy to contribute to the cause, but disappointed in the really stupid donation letters pandering to idiots. I'm honestly a little ticked-off because we're a smart group, we're not a bunch of ignorant rednecks to fall for stupid stuff like that - why is my own pro-2A organization talking to me like I'm retarded?

On another note, I try to keep a low-profile for the most part. I wonder how the thieves will know which house/apartment has a gun safe in it to steal (referring to the pic below)? I'm just going to ask them to stop mailing me things.
