Fairly common safari ammo in the very early 20th century. Lot of elephants and lions were killed by it.

Still some Austrian and Greek WWI vintage Carcano Rifles out there chambered for this. I can't imagine this ammo is commonly available so I'd offer it up for sale here on the forums. SOMEONE must want it.

What would you consider the value to be?

No idea. It's worth what someone is willing to pay, no more, no less. That number depends on that person's situation, finances, and need for the ammo.

Try checking online auctions for similar ammo and see what others have paid for it in the past. That should give you some idea about value.

Go to the C&R board and ask if any collectors know what it's worth before posting a sale.

Beyond it being desirable for the sake of shooting it, there are ammunition collectors out there who pay more than you'd think for rare or unusual calibers of yore.
So I was driving home from the range and I noticed that the scent of warm steel, burnt gunpowder and lukewarm coffee combined and smelled oddly of... Peanut butter?! Man, the Hoppe's is going to my head.

Great caliber if you want to piss the critter off. The best guy was W.D.M. Bell. He used a 7 m/m Mauser and was the best with what he called a rear quartering brain shot on big ivory.
