More guns seized by Boston PD

I wasn't aware anyone still used these, Not often seen in my neck of the woods. Except by me, of course, since I love SNS.

Carried and used by a Juvenile. Top breaks!

Another top-break. Im suprised they were even loaded.

    What's this?

    He's almost empty..

Using whatever he can scrounge, I guess. Who needs grips?

      What's this?
Looks like they improvised a cylinder. Perhaps a .22LR in a .38 SPL?

Edit: Looking at it a little closer it looks like the cylinder isn't in the frame. It appears to be open. It does give a weird illusion though. Definitely .38 SPL.

Edit: Looking at it a little closer it could be a .38 SPL off another arm, perhaps off a Ruger? If the rounds next to the gun are what they unloaded from it, then it cannot be a .22LR cylinder.

            .
The cylinder is open; that's why it looks weird - look at the extractor rod.

I have a perfect Burning Man attendance record: zero.

You do know there are more guns in the country than there are in the city.

I rarely see Galesi autos in the west coast guns do tend to be regional sometimes. I just passed on a FIE Guardian which I think is just a Rigarmi/Galesi type.

That last 9mm didn't look too bad, lack of grips isn't all that big of a deal. I would clean off the magazine and give the gun a thorough cleaning though.

I wonder if some of those guns are dirty because the criminal who was carrying them was taken to the ground?

Keep in mind it in Massachusetts (and the city of Boston especially) is one of those places where the gun laws are completely out of control.
I actually think it worse than here! ...you have to get the Chief of Police, in your local town or county, to okay your permit before you can even buy ANYTHING...
just to own it and have it in your own home. concealed carry or even open carry is next to impossible unless you know someone, have BIG political power or lots of money.

From one of the founding states that helped start the Revolutionary War in search of true freedom & independence... they have fallen quite far.

& I would take any of those. I don't mind to something inexpensive as long as it works.

my best guess as to the one to pick up and use in an emergency would be the Smith Wesson 642.

because it has the Crimson Trace laser grips,
it's a revolver so I can check it for reliability by hand very quickly without firing it, unlike the semi autos,
its in a common, inexpensive and available cartridge.
and I believe in Massachusetts you can get criminally charged if you don't have a safety device for your pistol and the built-in Smith and Wesson safety counts (they are made in Massachusetts or so the law was written to give them at home court advantage.)

                          Looks like a model 17 with a 8 3/8" barrel. Interesting.

You'd be surprised how much of that kind of garbage still shows up. The crime labs see them fairly often. Wonder if they guy with the electrician's tape got the idea from The Godfather.. in the movie Clemenza says you can't get prints off of that (bwah hahahahhahahah!).
The lab I was at for a while had lots and lots of those crummy guns come in, not as many as the Jennings/Raven/Bryco stuff, but more than you'd expect these days. We also had some really cool stuff come in once in a big while. Then there was crazy like the 4" barrelled 20gauge (!) sawed-off.
"Mr. Rat, I have a writ here that says you are to stop eating Chen Lee's cornmeal forthwith. Now, It's a rat writ, writ for a rat, and this is lawful service of same!"

Probably want to back that up with some reality.

Massachusetts does indeed have as much, if not more Government involvement in the ownership and registration process for firearms. They are not however more restrictive when it comes to issuing LTCs.

In Massachusetts they have currently issued 334,000 LTCs, of these 271,000 are Class A "unrestricted" LTCs which allow carry for all lawful purposes.

With a population of 6.6 Million, that puts the issue rate for Class A LTCs at around 4% of the population.

For California to reach that level it would have to issue 1.5 Million LTCs.

The latest number I could find for CA show us somewhere around 35,000 CCWs issued, but I am sure that number has increased to some extent recently.

With a population over 38 Million that puts us at somewhere near 0.09% for LTC issue.
