The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria)" -
Tough call, as throughout the year I change my opinion for favorite gun, that's why I have 4 on CCW. Today I'm liking my Ruger MK III Standard SSE, (range use) tomorrow, who knows.
Thing is, I can have more than 1 firearm, and theirs no situation for the poll, so I stand on which one I like best.....today.

A toss up between my Springfield 1911 and my M1 Garand. I bought the 1911 off the rental wall at work and carried it as a young man while managing a gun range in SoCal. Had a lot of great times and tense moments with that sidearm. Heavily customized SA Mil-Spec.

After the Cerakote
Or my CMP Garand, a '54 produced Springfield. Shot a goose out of the sky with it, carried it all over the rockies and the blue ridge mountains. Competed in NRA high power with it and love it.

To top it off, to play along with some of these guys' "survival" responses... A Garand wouldn't be a bad choice, probably better options, but certainly not bad.Comment

My Sig 556. My other rifles just sit in the safe since I got it.
