Check their website. It was still closed when I went up last week for the SCCA Runoffs. I don't think it was a lead issue but a safety one. From the information I read someone heard stray rounds on the grid of the track.

Range points away from track and is behind some hills...
Major fail if rounds make it to the grid...
Probably enviro-weinies finding something to complain about...Comment

Were you driving??? Just curious - we might run Formula Atlantic next year with our Swift 016a...I went up last week for the SCCA Runoffs.

Word is it may re-open sometime in November. Understand county parks is strapped for cash and wants it re-opened. Rates will be going up a bit though."Hence it happened that all the armed prophets conquered, all the unarmed perished." - Niccolo MachiavelliComment

No, not driving this year. I had a uncle in HP and a cousin in STL.
There was another thread earlier this month on the same topic. I was wrong about grid, supposedly the rumor is a parking attendant. If you go to their website they have a pop-up that states that it is "currently closed while a safety evaluation is being conducted."

Yes, it was due to lead LEAVING the range area, travelling over the hill that acts as backstop, and into the race track area.
Range does not point away from track, imo. If you're pointed downrange and rotate your barrel only 20 to 30 degrees clockwise, and purposely shoot over the hill, your round will come down somewhere in the track area. Again, imo, you'd have to do that purposely, and you'd be an idiot for it.
Agreed on your 2nd point.
When the place opens back up on 12/1, the only available targets will be the paper target stands at 50, 100, and 200 yards. No gongs on the hill anymore. They may reintroduce the gongs at some later point, after making new improvements to keep rounds inside the range area.
This info comes from range staff, relayed to the local shooting club that uses LS for most of its matches.Comment
