Bass Pro 11 day wait?

I bought a rifle from bass pro few days ago on my dros it says earliest pick up is 10-20 at 1pm, however bass pro has my earliest pick up date as 10-21 on some paper they stapled to my dros. Thinking it was a mistake I went in today n asked one of the guys n he says its store policy and because of the volume of gun sales they sell. Also stating some crap about screw ups n blah blah doj. I never heard of this

I asked if I come in on 20th (the 10th day) would i b able to pick up rifle n he said no. What kinda of s*** is that? are they allowed to do this? Anyone else have this happen to em?

Big5 does the same thing....always ask questions first and carefully review the paperwork...mistakes are made

yes, they can do that if they want, even if it makes ZERO sense.

if the DROS lists the earliest pick up time to be 10/20 at 1pm, I don't see why it makes it easier for them to refuse to let you pick up a firearm after 1pm.

If they tell you to come in on the 21st but you show up on the 20th after 1pm, what are they going to do? bring you up in the DES system and see if they can release it? since you came in after 1PM, they will see the release button, if you came in before 1pm, they wouldn't have the release button.

that was an "acceptable" reason pre-2014 under the old DROS system, but with the new DES system that went online on 1/1/14, it is impossible for an FFL to release early (do the math wrong) because all DROSes must be released through the DES system and the "Release" button does not become active until 240 hours have elapsed and the button becomes unactivve again at 720 hours if the person doesn't come in within 30-days of starting the DROS. its all timestamped through the DES system, there isnt' any way to do the math wrong.

Its simply to protect themselves from time mistakes. If you purchase a firearm at 1pm and ten calendar days later you come back to pick it up at 10am that's not 10 twenty four hours later. Law dog says 10 days and that's 240 hours.

They told me that they do it because people get mad at them when they come in before the time stamp and want to pick up their gun. I told them that they are making me mad NOW.
I wont buy from Bass pro or do transfers from them because of all their BS. Some of them are OK but they hire some real A holes as well. One guy flat out told me to go somewhere else. The manager caught wind of that one(not me, the other guy). Don't think that kid lasted much longer.
California makes it hard enough to buy a gun, we don't need dealers adding rules or wait times to that.

Big 5 tryed to pull this crap on me last year when I went to pick up a mosin. The manager ended up getting involved and released it, then chewed the employee out for trying to tell me "11 days is the law", not a company policy.

I've heard this about several stores. I don't know what the penalty is for releasing a gun 1 minute early but I'm sure it's outrageous.

In big stores it's almost certain a clerk will eventually give out a gun at 11am instead of 1pm. I can understand stores wanting to cya.

I've had 11 day waits for 3 pistols this year from 2 Sacramento shops. Never bothered me a bit. I pick up my new Range Officer Compact on Monday, 11 days after dros. It is what it is!

The manager at my local Big5 said it's because they get so many customers that can't comprehend that the 10th day after 5PM doesn't mean they can show up on the 10th day as soon as the store opens.

That being said, I have had all seven of the weapons I have bought from them released to me on the 10th day after my appointed time.

Yes they do put the 11 days on the pickup date. Reason is they have a high turnover and it's safer for the store not to have to worry about the time that you can pick up. 11th day you can pick up anytime. If you request to get on the tenth day, you can do it if the Manager approves. Does that make sense? Lighten up a little.
