Leaving the state with hicaps and returning

If I leave the state to take a class or visit others and bring my legal "hicaps" with me, does that mean I can't return to the state with them now?

No. Please refer to Penal Code section 32420

You may take your legally owned standard capacity magazines across state lines and return to California with them.

It's important to see the actual PC here:
32420. Section 32310 does not apply to the importation of a
large-capacity magazine by a person who lawfully possessed the
large-capacity magazine in the state prior to January 1, 2000,
lawfully took it out of the state, and is returning to the state with
          the same large-capacity magazine.
Technically - and I am often required to note that the law lives on technicalities - magazines acquired legally, for example, by LE, AFTER 2000 are not covered. They would be covered if the owner were current LE, but retired? Seems not.

Low risk; there are no 'magazine inspection stations' at the borders. But 'low risk' is not 'no risk'.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!
