    Multiple Sig Sauer problems

Just a heads up gentlemen, it may be just my "luck" but-

4 months ago I got brand new P226 stainless steel elite 9mm. First time to the range, factory new ammo only- failure to reset the trigger 3 times in less than 300 rounds. Gun all lubed with TW25.
Gun sent back to Sig, "upgraded reset spring installed".

A month ago a got brand new P229 stainless steel elite /I learn slow I guess/. Last night she broke the extractor on the first round. Factory new ammo. Gun all lubed with TW25.
Gun is going back to Sig today.

The good of all this, I have the Sig representative phone number on a speed dial. I scan the SSE paperwork while we talk, he has my email, I reply back with the scanned papers, DONE! 30 seconds flat and I am ready to send the gun back. Proper training

Do I need to mention no more Sigs for me...

Too bad one the weapon. I have another Sig on my SSE list to think about. Sounds like the customer service is pretty good though?

Yes, SIG's customer service is very top quality, even though it always seems that their P series guns never get every bug worked out of the line, and you sometimes get a lemon. Personally, my p226 has NEVER had a single hiccup, but friends have, and they got their guns serviced lickety split.

            Maybe you shouldn't use TW25.

TW25 is the recommended by Sig lubricant. The broken extractor on a first round has nothing to do with the type of lubricant. After the fix on the 226 the gun runs good /TW25 used/.

Yes, Sig customer service is great. The problem is the guns are the ones a should depend on for home defence- customer service will be too slow to fixe them when bad guy comes.

My Sig P220 and I did not get off to a good start.

After the first 100 rounds, I seriously was questioning myself as to whether or not I just made a >$1000 mistake.

I took to the web and did a lot of reading. I learned that the hand position caused one of my problems. I also learned that Sigs like to run wet. Plus after committing 1K down range the gun smoothed out dramatically and has been problem free every since.

Long story short, I almost gave up on mine and I am glad I did not.

My problem is that I can not think of anything else I could have done any better in order to avoid all this problems. I know about "wet" Sig story. Got on Grey guns page and saw how much lube they used. I do the same with every Sig I own. And just to avoid "but this is not the proper lube" I use exactly what Sig recommends.

With the 226 /short reset trigger/ the problem apparently was the reset spring. After the installation of the "upgraded reset spring" the problem was solved. Same lube, same shooter, same ammo... runs like it should. It just took better spring I guess.

With the 229 there was no start- inserted the magazine, fired one and the shell remained in the gun. Looked at the extractor- broken. This can not be lube or shooter. The ammo was new 9 mm Freedom munitions. After the Sig died, we ran the same ammo /500 rounds/ in another gun, no problems at all.

I know, anything mechanical can break. And can be fixed after that. It is just a reminder not to trust a new gun.

I've bought 4 Sigs and haven't had a single problem. I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling OP

                      Struggle- here how it goes:
Year ago I got new Ruger SP 101. After 20-30 dry fires /with snap caps/ the trigger locked, did not want to reset. Sent back to Ruger. Ruger lost the gun, it disappeared somewhere. After 6 months finally they agreed to send another one. I paid for the new DROS, And was so disgusted with Ruger customer service, I did not even called to ask to be reimbursed for the DROS.

Right after Ruger lost the revolver I got 22/45. After few hundred rounds, one great day I had a round going off with the bold out of battery. It blew out the plastic LCI. There was now power on this world that would make me call Ruger for any reason, I got Voulquartsen trigger and LCI plug from another company. Gun runs great now.

Then I got the P226, then the P229...

Yes, I know, all of those are very reliable...

Anybody knows magic against bad juju?

Sorry to hear about your issues. Hope it gets worked out to your satisfaction.

On a side note, this seems kinda like some of the so called Kimber issues. Out of thousands (perhaps tens if thousands of guns) produced, a few lemons were found. Doesn't mean that the entire line is junk, just a few out of many. Don't give up on the sigs.

Airplanes and me is Ok combo. Grew up in a place with mandatory military service. No single malfunction on any or the missiles I loaded under those Mig 21 wings. Maybe I need Mig 21!

I don't know about another Sig, the plan was for P227 tacops, but after this fiasco... Will see, I may get the 227 just because of the great Sig customer service. Anyway, even if/when it goes bad, I have dialed down the whole "send it back to us" procedure. The Fed Ex hub is 4 blocks away, piece of cake!

The P227 Tacops is freaking sweet! Mine rounds out my SA/DA sig collection pretty well and will be awesome when I return to Washington State and can actually use the capacity.

Mig 21s and mandatory military service? Israel?
