I'm thinking of buying a complete conversion kit for a Commander size that includes the slide, barrel, barrel bushing, recoil spring assembly and magazine. Can this be installed on a frame that's set up for 45 ACP without any other modifications/changes? I would also use this set up to convert a 9mm commander to a 38 Super.

Convertion For 1911 45ACP to 38 Super

The .45 to .38 super conversion may not be as easy as replacing the slide assembly.
At a minimum you would also need a new ejector and slide release.
You need to be careful to make sure you're not getting a ramped barrel for a frame that isn't cut for a ramp or vice versa.
Some of this might depend on the make and model of your 1911 (Para Ordnance slides are cut for the same ejector regardless of caliber).
The 9mm to .38 super conversion would only need barrel, recoil spring, mag and maybe a bushing.
