Help me package out my full auto M1919

I have one coming in this December. It is just the pistol grip 1919 and nothing else. 308 caliber. I want to make it spade grip.

I want you guys (especially 1919 owners) to make some realistic suggestions on the following:

    1
maintenance and function testing equipment. spare parts list

    2
mounts. thinking tripod with left side feed box. right side shell catcher. maybe a link catcher but i like belts more. when i get cheap linked 308 i will want a link catcher.
Also want something to mount to my Nissan Titan. It has the factory rails in the sides and floor. Also a hitch receiver so maybe something I can mount to that so I can just sit on the tail gate and shoot.
In a perfect world i would like a mount with hydraulics that can rise up from the bed after I roll my bed cover away. That way i can just let all the brass fall into the bed.

    3.
    caliber conversion kit
I want 54r if is it will be cheaper to shoot.
.22lr is possible but I already have a belt fed .22 full auto.

    4. custom crate plans or Pelican case to hold the gun

    5. factory fresh or surplus ammo recommendation

    6. anything else you can think of. Belt linker?

If you really know what you are doing and have years of experience and references on these guns I will fly you out here to set it up and perform safety test on it. I know belt feds are finicky and I do not want to waste my time dialing it in with a sledgehammer and guesswork.

I converted my (semi) to 54R. BEST move ever. Can't keep feeding it .308 at .50 per. You can get 54R for .22 shipped.

I dont know why you want spade grips as hey were never original to the gun other than prototypes made. But hey its your money to waste

Spare Barrel, feed paw, firing pin to name a few back up parts. Bought a spade grip my 1919A4 and never put it on, still sitting in a box. Belts are fine but get your self a belt loader if you go that route. I use links on mine and have a nice linker , also if you go with links be sure to get some starter tabs. If you're in Arizona, go to the Big Sandy shoot in 3 weeks. Walk the line and talk to the 1919 owners--there will be plenty of them there. They'll square you away and somebody will volunteer to help you set yours up when it comes in.

Belts are fine if you get a loader but expect to spend $1000 for it. A linker is more like $100 or even like me, built from scrap for free. Plans are online or PM me and I can send some to you.

I love my spade grips, not historically accurate, but fun to shoot. Easy to swap back and forth so no downside.

Mounts are the same, easy to make yourself unless you want historically correct. But to shoot, lots of designs or just do your own.

First thing to buy is the spring steel snap on trunion cover. Links will eventually gouge the trunion and when this happens you'll have feeding problems. The cover can be found on GB for $15. Then an extractor spring and extractor. The extractor spring on mine was bad and fell off when firing and jammed the action to the point that I had to hammer it open with a hammer applied to the op handle.

Later on you should get a firing pin, driving spring, lock frame, built up top cover, spare NOS barrel, bolt, barrel extension. If the cartridge base track on your bolt chips you are out of action. The stuff is still fairly cheap but won't be much longer.

Well, here's what your case should potentially look like....

So links are less of a headache? I just don't want to sift through sand since I shoot at night also.
Will they work non-modified on 54r ammo?
I want spades because I like the look more. Waste of money? That's like saying not to buy the floor mats on a Ferrari because the Ferrari is already expensive as it is.
No time for reloading. It may cost less to reload but time is money. I make more money not reloading.
I might just force myself to go to Big Sandy. It is kind of a let down when i can do 60% of the stuff 15 minutes from home with no rules and my own ceasefires.
Not looking for historical accuracy. I want sturdy and safe. I have an AA tripod collecting dust now I can use but it feels to lightweight. I want something movie gun looking.

If I can have something fabbed so I can mount it to my trailer hitch like a heavy duty bike carrier or inside the bed of my Titan I would be really happy. I don't feel like lugging ammo cans, tripods, catch cans, etc out onto the desert floor.

                    Is this any good?

You need to go to www.1919a4.com and ask these questions. One of the best guys in CA moved to OR to start up a business. Ask for Lucky#13 aka Rollin, great guy and knows tons on the 1919. As do a lot of the guys on the board, personally I would keep the pistol grip as it looks better then spade grips.

One mount I have seen holds three ammo cans. The one on the left feeds the belt, the one on the right catches the links, the one under the gun in the middle catches the cases.

If you shoot a lot and have the money, an automatic belt loader would be worth the money. Cloth belts are cheap and easy to get outside of CA.

You would do well to go and read the tutorials on this site:

You can swap out your grip for spades, and have all different kinds of mounts. Also, expect to buy a linker. Going links is cheaper and easier than belts. If you have lots of belts, it's easy enough to build a cloth belt linker. You can also make a mount that attaches to the top of your roll bar and let the brass and links drop into the bed..

Also get a broken shell extractor.
