double stack mag pouches vs single stack

Hi guys I need your opinion. I just got my plate carrier and I'm looking to add some mag pouches to go along with it. I plan on using the plate carrier mostly for shtf and to take some carbine classes come next year. I plan on getting an AR next month during the black Friday sales. I normally would think the single stack mags would be enough. But with California limiting mag capacity to 10 rounds. is that still the case? If i get the double stacked pouches will they be too thick to go prone roll around for classes? Any experiences you guys have or advice would be helpful.

For standard size 10-round mags, get yourself the tactical tailor M14 mag pouches with flaps & buckle. Then pack the bottom of the mag pouch with bandanas, cleaning patches (in a ziplock), fire-starting kit, etc... Survival kit and mag pouches in one. The elastic topped mag pouches, unless specifically designed for 10-rounders, probably won't work too great, because too little of the magazine is in the pouch, even if you pad the bottom of it, because too much of the mag has to be exposed.

Of course, the really redneck solution is to use grenade pouches. You can get 2x ten-rounders in one of those.

That's one of the reason that so many people use 10/20 & 10/30 magazines.

As the guys above said, those pouches are for 30 round mags, so if the mags you have are 30s blocked to 10 they will work. If they are smaller 10 rd mags you would need something smaller. As for your question, I would go with the single stack, you're already going to feel awkward with those mags across your chest, I like mine to sit as flat against my body as possible.

TAG has some good stuff on clearance right now, including that double stack pouch you linked for less, if you don't mind the limited colors they have available.
