    Concealed carry in church?

Did a search and couldn't find another post on this subject. This has been discussed in other forums. So,those with a "CCW",do you carry in church? If you do,who knows that you carry? I'll start by saying that I carry,my wife, and the Lord know. Lets hear it.

I used to think it was silly until the number of church shootings when way up. People in churches are sitting (kneeling?) ducks. A church is often one of those institutions that people get p*ssed off at. A bunch of unarmed people in a confined space makes them a target of opportunity.

I do CCW but I haven't been to church in a long time. If I did go, I would carry.

Frontsight did a recent promotion to train church leadership, including CCWs. Yes, churches are targets (well, the people in them), and protecting innocents is never a bad thing.

IMO, I'd do it, but I'd check with the pastor first.

Doesn't everybody carry 24x7 that has the permission slip? (j/k)
I have been vacillating on this. I go to church every Sunday, though I am certainly not naive enough to think that a bad guy won't try to attend.
It's easier to carry in the winter, as I am more inclined to wear a jacket.
In the summer--it's too tough to hide my 'bulge'.
When I carry, noone knows except my wife and my retired cop buddy.
Single issue voting and the 'lesser-of-two-evils' mentality is what got us into this mess!

Chico-In the summer my 642 disappears in my front pocket. I also agree that its easier to carry in winter. Time to shop for a pocket rocket?

And that's pretty much how it should be.

If a thing is legal and honorable, never turn it over to someone like a pastor who may flip out about it.

Jesus Himself said that he who didn't have a sword, should sell his cloak and buy one. Swords were the standard infantry weapon of the day, and I don't think that He meant for those swords to stay at home.

This subject was recently brought up at a church safety

committee meeting I am on. I asked if there were any LEOs as members then explained I wanted an estimate of how many people might be armed on any given Sunday. After the shock wore off we were able to discuss this reasonably. I made the suggestion that the church not encourage people to arm themselves for liability reasons but also not to discourage it either. It will probably be addressed in our safety plan.

That's is the smart thing to do.

When TX went shall-issue, many churches announced publicly "not in our church". Even posted it on the front doors. Well, wouldn't you know it, some nuts took advantage of that policy and killed those un-armed victims. ABC News asked "Is christianity under attack?" after one such massacre. NO. Anyplace that advertises "we are un-armed" is a ripe target for cowards with guns.

I always do, no one knows. It can be a pain but I'd rather g o through the hassle just in case I end up needing it. My wife used to tease me about it until that Church shooting that happened a few months back.

                          Depends on the church.

I was just going to mention Utah until I saw your post. Kinda funny, Utah is about the only state that you can carry in a bar, but not in a church.

there was a program on tv that talked about mass shootings. one case a shooter was stopped by an off duty cop that was carrying on sunday. too bad he killed a family in the parking lot before he went into the main building.
