My takeaway from this is that if he'd have turned off his phone he never would have been checked and his gun would never have been found and this wouldn't even make the news. As so many guns must be every day.

The gun was a completely inert piece of machinery in either scenario (found or not). But of course once the news hears there's a gun somewhere it's a big story.

Doesn't really matter. She served her 5 years in Washington and locked in her 150% pension. Probably doubled the money she donated to his campaign to get her appointment. All is good for her. Now that we are past the 5 year mark we will see a lot of his appointments "retire".
