I'm patiently waiting for a few new parts on my new build and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for blacking out the white lettering on my guns. For instance, the big white AIMPOINT on my H-1. I've read some people mention Perma Blue? I want to avoid spray paint if I can. Thanks guys!

Depends on how the white lettering is applied. If it's simple paint that comes off with a solvent(problem could be damaging the finish around it depending on the finish and the solvent ie paint thinner you're using), you can just wipe it off. If we're talking about filled engraved lettering, you can do the opposite of the color fills people do and use a black that matches the finish closely enough. If you want everything to look 100% even and it's a paint you cannot cover up or remove and keep the rest of the finish intact, you'll need to look at a refinishing option like cerakote, duracoat, etc. -

If you're decent with a rattle can, cover what the lenses with painters tape then prime it and paint it black. Just make sure you get a durable paint.Dear ISIS, Texas is not known for their gun free zones.

If it's engraved, can you just get a black china crayon from an art supply store and rub it in then wipe off the surface residue? Not 100% permanent but because of that it's renewable and removable.Comment

WD-40. let it soak in, and a vigorously applied old tooth brush will remove most lettering like that.Comment
