just out of curiosity, do suppressors do anything at all to tame muzzle jump and/or recoil?

I would think so, physics tells me that it would just becuase you're hanging all that extra weight off the end of the barrel. I've never experienced it, but I had to guess.sigpic
George Washington didn't use the 1st amendment to defeat the British...he shot them.

As someone who has owned and shot a 50BMG rifle, I can tell you without
any doubt that those dumb metal things hanging off the barrels of high
power rifles work.
As do flash hiders, or suppressors as they are now called. Different animal though as flash hiders don't tame recoil."I kill things for a living, don't make yourself one of them"Comment

I think it would because silencers delay the explosive release of gases from the muzzle.Mo' BBs.Comment

Recoil reduction yes, for typical rifles. Not much change for typical pistols for either recoil or flip. Typical pistol with typical suppressor is heavier than the same pistol without a suppressor and that alone will account for some reduced flip. It's not a huge amount of benefit, if any.
With Neilsen devices and stock recoil springs on pistol caliber suppressors used on automatic pistols, you may find reduced slide velocity. This may or may not have any effect on muzzle flip.
Suppressors can indeed increase accuracy and shot groups when properly tuned with a gunsmithed barrel. Or, a suppressor can ruin your accuracy if you neglect several key factors. Doing a little research over time and talking to people who know can point you to a solution that ought to work well.Comment
