I hear the media rattling their shovels.

Actually, they will just slice and dice to make it say what they want.

Better yet... If they just made murder illegal it would solve all our problems.

In the last 48 hours we have raised our 'terror level' out of fear of "lone wolf" attacks by terrorists, and have learned that "active shooter" incidents are on the rise, and that...

In many cases, they happened so quickly that the shooting was over before police arrived. Of 64 incidents analyzed, 44 were over in 5 minutes or less. Of those, 23 ended in two minutes or less.
            and

Unarmed civilians successfully restrained the shooter in 13% of the cases.

Yet, I have not heard one pundit or 'journalist' suggest that responsible citizens should be allowed to arm themselves for self-defense.

But "stay vigilant" future victims. Don't worry, your future statistic will help us create even more in years to come!

Don't forget that a DHS funded video from the last year or so suggested that those in an 'active shooter' situation arm themselves if they can't get away.
Except in their case it's with scissors.

Google it if you've never seen it. It's pretty sad.

FBI Publishes Research on Active Shooter Situations

there's some interesting material in here. What I get from this study is that given the sick condition of American society, the need for citizens to arm themselves for self protection is increasing.

And some excellent analysis of this study from Reason Magazine

The FBI released a report today suggesting that "active shooter incidents" grew more common from 2000 to 2013. Reason readers may wonder how to square that conclusion with the statistics we've published suggesting that mass shootings are not on the rise. There are two answers to that. One involves some potential problems with the FBI's numbers; we'll get to those issues in a moment. The other answer is simpler: "Active shooter" and "mass shooting" do not mean the same thing.

"Of the 160 incidents, at least 107 (66.9%)ended before police arrived and could engage the shooter"

Guess that shoots a hole in the wait around for police theory!!
