Law Enforcement Gun Release Application for SSE handgun

I've searched but nothing pertaining to a SSE handgun.

2 weeks ago I picked up SSE Glock 42...still unfired. Well on Saturday I was taking it to my local shop to see why everything felt so tight on the gun. I decided to ride my moto and stored it legally in a locked case in my locked storage compartment.

I never made it. Some dirtbag out of the blue decided to tailgate me within 5 feet of my rear tire and ran me down. Hit and run but lots of witnesses and people coming to my aide as I flopped on the pavement bleeding. During the questioning by chp while I laid on the ground, I notified him of my legally owned and stored handgun in the storage compartment and asked him to secure it so it wouldn't "disappear" at the tow yard.

Today I healed up enough to hobble into my local chp and a nice officer helped me out with the paperwork. He is familiar with SSE and my local shop but wasn't sure on what to do about checking the box on Section C. "Handgun type". We both know that the G42 is a semiauto. However we both know I had to Single Shot it in order for me to buy it. So not sure which box to check and the gun shop has not dealt with this before either.

Also....there is "barrel length". We both know that it is 3" long but once again...Single Shot..... the barrel was WAY longer

    Any ideas????

Once you own the firearm, you are free to "modify it."
As far as I know there is nothing that says you can not.

Seems to me the handgun should be described in the condition as it was at the time it was taken into custody.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

My original dros form says 9" barrel, 380, 25 caliber and single shot. In sac, they'll compare the dros and my form and realize that is significantly different..... I'm just a little worried

It's completely stupid that you can buy dozens of .45 cal weapons, including Glocks, with 10-round capacity, but a 6-round .380 is considered "unsafe."

Legally, the fact that the Legislature passed s law which the Governor signed to close SSE indicates that the government acknowledges that SSE is a lawful means of purchasing off-roster firearms. As others have said, it is legal for you to replace the barrel of a handgun.

You returned it to stock. It's a semi auto. Write down the configuration it was in when taken by the CHP. You own a legal firearm, no need to call it something its not.

Describe it as it was when the police took custody of it. It's not a stock G42 but a modified one.

If you had the firearm ceracoted in pink do you think someone would try to cause problems because "Glocks don't come in pink?"

For handgun type put single shot, for barrel length put 9". I seriously doubt someone in Sacramento is going to take the time to check or know what the specs are on a G42.

Don't do this. The property department will then say the handgun is not the same. You legally converted it back to semi-auto, put that description.
