Usually the first thing I read when I get mine. If I were to guess, I would say that would be close to 40 yrs of reading it.

I'm thinking he means the National media. These stories are pick up by the local paper but the antis don't spread them across the nation like their favorite school shootings.

But are they reprints from mainstream or major media? And are the stories getting picked up for national coverage? For example how often do you see such reporting from the LA Slimes? Or San Fransisco papers? Or the Associated (socialized) Press? Or ABC, CBS, CNN, or NBC News? I'm pretty sure that those mainstream "news" outlets (lefty propaganda mills) aren't doing much 2A-friendly reporting.

John Lott makes a good point about media reporting and points out that often when guns are used in self defense, it is the mainstream media that omits any reference to the use of a gun defensively. It is often the small town paper that prints the full version but the larger media outlets will omit key facts.

In his example of the school shooter stopped by an armed citizen at Appalachia Law School, the local paper reported (accurately) that the shooter was stopped by an armed staff member. On the other hand, in over 200 reports in the mainstream press about the incident, they all reported that the shooter was merely confronted by a citizen, none of them mentioned that the citizen was armed and used his gun to stop the shooter.

So, just because a press story can be found that a gun was used defensively, does mean that the mainstream press doesn't have a long history scrubbing the news of examples of defensive gun use.

Basically, Teenage daughter goes out to her car in the early morning, two would be home invaders grab her and start bringing her towards the house. Her father sees this happen, grabs his gun, shoots both of them, killing one, wounding the other.
