Anyone know a Chinese language gun safety video?

I am dating this girl and she is recently from China, and well lets just say, English isn't a strong point for her. I really want to take her shooting and she wants to go, but I want to make sure she completely understands gun safety before we go. A google search doesn't bring up anything except for a bunch of articles of a Chinese guy that shot himself in a class of Kindergarteners.

It's funny how English-speaking people think that when foreigners don't speak fluent English, they are hard of hearing too.

I read online they will actually put you to death if caught with a gun...some scary stuff! And yeah she is teaching me and I am learning, but its only basic stuff so far. I want to stress the importance to her about not covering anyone with the barrel, and to resist the urge to look down the barrel..which she, and a lot of new shooters, have a huge urge to do that haha.

I thought that was the point

But a good start would be for you to teach her nomenclature of the firearms you are using. Understanding basic definitions goes a long way. Bolt, action, trigger, muzzle, etc

At this point in your relationship and communication level with her, maybe introducing her to guns isn't the brightest idea in the world.

Not in Chinese, but covers the basics. Watch several times explaining what is the specific guidance in each rule.

As the firearm industry trade association, NSSF leads the way in advocating for the industry and its business and jobs, keeping guns out of the wrong hands, encouraging enjoyment of recreational shooting and hunting and helping people better understand the industry’s lawful products.

Do this until she can recite them back to you (as best she can).

I have a Chinese wife, so maybe I can offer a few suggestions when explaining something to your girlfriend. If you haven’t already noticed, Chinese are very practical, quick to learn and adapt to new environments. For them this is a survival skill. They respect authority, in this case your expertise in firearms (and, all things American for that matter). Chinese like to communicate face-to-face, one-on-one. Telling her to watch a video would be insulting. Trust me on this one.

Explain to her the basics of handgun safety in simple, conversational English. Don’t make it more technical then absolutely necessary. Don’t patronize or talk down to her. Verbally check for understanding after explaining each concept. Often they will smile politely to cover for lack comprehension on their part. Ask her the Chinese word for the various parts of gun as you point them out (trigger, barrel, handle, etc) so that she feels she is also educating you. Remember she is doing double-time in work in English, if you could meet half-way and use your newly learned Chinese words, she will appreciate your willingness to work in her language

Ask her about private ownership of firearms in China. Mostly likely she will know of family and friends who have served in the military. Understand the Chinese mindset on firearms and their role in their society. Listen carefully and remember everything she says; she will respect you for this. This will also prepare to you to explain why things are different in American and why our laws are different. I’d offer explaining our American rights and freedoms will prove to be the greater challenge.

                      Best of luck, Roger

Try starting with this. A little more offered than the 4 cardinal rules but they are basically in there. I'd caution that if there truly is a language barrier, you consider going with someone that can translate for obvious reasons. Be safe.

I downloaded a Chinese Handgun Safety booklet from New Zealand. Confirmed it with one of the many Chinese immigrants I work with that it was closely translated to our NRA & HSC handgun handbook.

                          2013 New Zealand Arms Code

                          Chinese: http://www.police.govt.nz/sites/defa...de-chinese.pdf
Korean version hosted on the same page.

I'm not sure if that ones is the same one I downloaded. I seem to remember it was longer, following the English version (with pictures) hosted on the same page.

I did a handgun safety class for many of our Chinese workers and explained the process on how to purchase a handgun in California.

So far, I've helped two Chinese co-workers (now US citizens) purchase their first handgun. Actually one of them just purchased their 2nd handgun last week.

I also made up a Word document with two pictures with the different parts of the semi-auto and revolver pointed out in simple Chinese characters.

I'll see if I can post them online somewhere and provide a link.

I thought this was going to be easy, but of course the NRA doesn't think specifying a spoken language preference is worth it when looking up courses.

I'm sure somewhere there is the info you need, I just can't find it.

This place advertises courses in Mandrin, if it's too far, or costly, or whatever, they may have some suggestions if you contact them.
