50.00 PPT fee at The Gun Range (Sac)

So, I went to The Gun Range off of Watt ave in Sacramento to do a PPT with a fellow Calgunner. I showed up a half hour early to peruse as I've never been to this shop. Walk in, browse around, and am asked if I needed help. Told the gentleman "no, just waiting to do a PPT with an individual". I then asked how much they charge and he stated 50.00!?! Shortly after I asked another employee the same question and received the same answer. When I asked for a breakdown of the fees, he couldn't recall.

Not only is this debatably illegal, its a bad business model in an industry that requires return customers. Capitalism is a two way street, I walked out and won't return.

i've done ppt's there and it was 10 bux plus DROS. everything was silky smooth. they must have raised the price.

i hope they aren't going to start screwing people as this is one of my favorite ranges/stores.

Their website says the fee is 35.00, I don't understand where the extra 15.00 goes. I asked but he couldn't provide an explanation, just said "it comes out to 50.00".

Maybe that's what they were thinking? They are good people....call them up to verify the actual numbers might have just been a mistake by a couple of their employees?

There's no "debatably" about it. PPT fees are fixed by law.

I was very specific about the fact that I was meeting an individual for PPT, both of the employees were confident in their response. I'll call tomorrow and verify a third time, I have never shunned a gun store before and would like to keep my options open.

Right, the fifteen dollars is nothing. Its the principal of the matter. I've been to two other shops for countless PPTs and always been charged 35.00. And whatya know, I've always returned to buy firearms from their inventory.

Many of the employees do not actually know the cost of PPTs and transfer fees because not everyone there actually does them. I've done many PPTs there before and it's always $35 total. Adrenaline is right with the transfer fees, $25 transfer + $25 DROS. Sometimes the employees, even at a gun store/range that cool, will not know the correct information.
