It doesn't look like that barrel is ported. That one might be hot to handle. I am not a fan of that grip either.

My 500 is ported with the factory S&W grip and it is very manageable.

As for $1,200... well that's what I paid new not including taxes and DROS.

The barrel is ported on the top at the middle and rear of the front sight.

          That's a $2,600 gun (MSRP). http://www.reedercustomguns.com/revolvers/ULT500.htm

After you shoot it, tell us if you got a great deal.

Will do, it is ported thanks for replying for me.. I have no delusions of what I am up against, believe me I standardized all of my handguns to .45 acp and only bought as an investment. I have to shoot it though, this Friday will report back if I am able to use my fingers to type....

If you bought it as an investment it is far more profitable to leave "New In Box". The best investors are those who are emotionally detached from their investments. Never for get that great line from "Scareface"; "Don't get high on your own supply"

True, however it's not new but it's in the box. It would make sense if new, however; since it needs a good cleaning I figured might as well shoot a few rounds.

Good deal due to the porting, makes it not so nice to shoot in more ways than not having it done. IMO I had one of my 45 colt's ported and ended up re-barreling it.

That Bisley grip frame is the way to go, far more comfortable than the standard S&W stock grip.

                      I am curious about this.

Why do you prefer non-ported guns?

Range report....First shot hit dead center at 40 yards on 8" steel plate. Lucky really, I am so use to my normal thumbs forward grip I had a heck of a time getting comfortable, second shot was a miss, ended up with a bruised thumb and a cut on finger, not something to shoot often but was fun...It's just flat out mean......What a kick......

Severe muzzle blast and depending on circumstances bodily injury from upward muzzle blast. It happens.
