Just went to Walmart and they had Fed aluminum .45 at $14.99. Same price for .40. Stood around for 25 minutes and bugged 3 different employees but nobody ever showed up with the key. Thanks Walmart.

Honestly that sounds like a case expansion issue. I saw the same thing happen to my buddies 5.56 Avtomat. If that is the case what has happened is the case was too soft or the chamber a little too wide and the pressure of ignition forced the case wall up against the chamber wall, then when the incredibly violent force of extraction occured the case tore rather than came out properly due to the friction on the case wall being greater than the tensile strength of the case.I guessing because the rounds are lighter, there may be timing issues? I just found out last night that my Masterpiece Arms will also not cycle 9mm snap caps, it just spits them out before going into the chamber. The snap caps cycle fine in my Glock.
Perhaps, the extractor on my Masterpiece Arms is too powerful for aluminum casings and just tears them in half?So I was driving home from the range and I noticed that the scent of warm steel, burnt gunpowder and lukewarm coffee combined and smelled oddly of... Peanut butter?! Man, the Hoppe's is going to my head.

I'm guessing the range rules limiting aluminum casing has more to do with selling brass than anything else. The ranges have to do something with the spent casings, if not sorting and reselling it themselves, I am sure it is easier to sell if there are no non brass casings mixed in...Last edited by crob; 09-09-2014, 3:20 PM.Comment

For your own safety and that of other shooters, have you followed up on the out-of-battery discharge issue? I'd hate to be on the lane next to yours if that gun ever lets go and kabooms.I guessing because the rounds are lighter, there may be timing issues? The Aluminum I have seen at Walmart recently was Federal.. which is owned by the same company as Blazer. (Hell I've even purchased a box of Federal to find that the cases where marked Blazer or vica versa I can't remember which direction atm)
I used Blazer Aluminum a lot in the early 2000's when it was plentiful and cheap.
Glock uses Blazer Aluminum for their test fire cases... I think thats a big endorsement.Comment

The gun works fine with brass cased ammo. The out of battery discharge issue is a characteristic of the gun -- "Mac" pistols were originally open-bolt designs, but had to be redesigned to closed bolt per the ATF which may of compromised the safety. Other users have reported out of battery misfires when bump firing which I don't intend on doing. I suggest testing your guns (while empty) to see if they can fire out of battery.Constitutionally, officials cannot license or register a fundamental right.

I've shot regular Blazer for years in preference to WWB...it was just cleaner and was more consistent. The only issue I've had with them were their .44spl JHP loading occasionally sticking in the chamber
I wasn't reloading, so the Berdan primers didn't matter to me...the ranges where I have shot allow it.
I'm looking forward to trying the Federal aluminum stuff when I find some...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment
