    What's This Ebayer Seller's Problem?

Someone recently asked me if I knew where they could get a repro sniper bent bolt for a Mosin 91/30, and I remembered a seller on Ebay, who offered a service for bent bolt conversions. I was just about to email the details over to the person seeking a bent bolt, when I noticed in the Ebay listing description : I WILL NOT SHIP TO CALIFORNIA ADDRESSES, NOR TO ADDRESSES OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES (is there any difference?).

It's a harmless gun part. What is this guy's problem?

he could be playing fashionable and bashing Cali for bragging rights.

he could be really unaware that what he does on ebay, by its very own rules, make it legal in Cali.

pm the guy, he says he "very communicative", but apparently not so friendly to us here.

Let him know that every transaction on ebay and/or Paypal goes through California. Thus, every time he does bussiness using either company's services, he is contributing to California's economy. You should thank him for his contributions and then ask him why he thinks that those of us who are strong enough to stay here and fight for our rights should not be able to receive his products?

Probably heard something from someone about somebody who knew somebody that went to school with somebody whose brother told them about somebody who got in trouble for selling parts on Ebay to somebody.

Better than this, there's an idiot on gunbroker selling a Beretta O/U shotgun stock who will not ship to CA.

The problem = Ignorance of the laws. I used to be the same way when it came to CA gun laws until I came here.

Yeah, I saw that, too, when I was looking for just that kind of service. Pretty annoying. It's not even a receiver, just a part. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he had a bad experience dealing with Cliaofnian authorities. It's not like that'd be something unusual.

found one of his posts on auction arms (http://www.auctionarms.com/search/di...temnum=8800573). I really would like to buy the sniper bent bolt from him; he posted that you don't need to send your bolt body as opposed to the ebay posting.

Several days later the bolt was rusted shut but I guess the fouling wasnt TOO bad.

Last night I sent him a message asking him why he won't ship to CA, and please don't respond with "you should move to a free state" as that gets old very quickly. Here is his response:

Then how about I respond with this : The courts in CA are very eager to prosecute any case having anything to do with a gun. They use the "shotgun" tactic of sueing anybody even remotely related to the origin or configuration of the firearm. The juries and judges are all too often extremely liberal and anti gun. Only an idiot would choose to do business there. And I don't think you should move. I think yo should get organized and vote the liberals out. And until you do, I won't be doing any business there. Happy shooting.
I responded that I had a complete Mosin Nagant M91/30 sniper shipped to my house last week, so why is he too afraid to ship an unrestricted gun part to CA? I suggested he did himself a favor and visited Calguns.net as he would be surprised at what we can purchase here in CA.

I learned a long time ago - you know how you keep stupid people from doing stupid things? You can't.

Let him be stupid or make his silly point.

You really should remind him that legally, every ebay transaction he does, is done inside the state of California. So, if he doesn't want to get involved with California laws, he should do his bussiness outside of this state.

Just got another communication from the Ebay seller in question. Seems like he's back-tracked from excuses about being afraid of CA DOJ coming after him to this :

I've looked at the facts related to selling in CA many, many times. Deciding to not sell to CA addresses wasn't a legal decision, but a political one. I object to the runaway liberalism that CA is known to be the center of. I dislike the ultra liberal court system. I object to CA sanctioning same sex marriages. However, I do respect the legal rights of others, and respect Californians rights to support the legal system that they've put in place. I respect your state's right to the social system you've built, the gay parades, the anti-military, anti-gun, pro illegal immigration, and pro welfare stand that your state in general advocates (just check your laws). The show belongs to CA citizens as a whole. I say let them run it. However, at the same time, I don't see why Californians don't respect my right to choose to not to do business there. There are lots of sources for this item, but I still get lots of complaints. I can only think that it's not because the item can't be had elsewhere, it's because they intensely object to ME excercising MY rights. My right is to choose to not do business in CA, and that's what I choose. Get organized and vote the ultra-liberal, anti-constitutional, communist / socialists out, and I'll do business there. By the way, it was in the news this morning that Brad Pitt (Hollywood crowd) is donating $100,000 toward fighting a ban of gay marriage. Give me a break. Good luck.

                              - mellbee

If Brad Pitt wants to give away his own money, so what. He does not represent every Californian. He's from Oklahoma.

CSACannoneer, I emailed him your exact words. I hope realising he is supporting the CA economy by using Ebay and PayPal really p***es him off.

I know this Ebay seller in New Mexico is a lost cause, but I couldn't resist rattling his cage a bit.

Life can make you do many things, even kiss a man with a runny nose.
