    Gun Skins (wraps)

I did a search and it didn't come up with any results.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with gun skins or wraps?
I was wanting to camo my bolt gun for a hunting trip, but I don't want to paint the gun.

Any personal experiences with one of these? Pro's and Con's, or other options would be appreciated.

    Here are a couple examples:
Mossy Oak Graphics - Serious Products for Serious Hunters. The only cast vinyl camouflage system. Proudly made in the US. Free shipping on $100.

Rifle Gun Skins by GunSkins. Premium vinyl wraps for hunting & tactical rifles. Bold detail, durable protection, and easy installation.

Used to use the old came tape. It was great until you tried to take it off, then it was a nightmare. Did keep the salty mud off the gun.

An alternative that's totally reversible: Something like camoform perhaps? Its pricy for being not much more than a printed bandage but on the other hand you can use it as first aid if you have an oops while out in the woods.

Not bad for 30 bucks. I was gonna do a duracoat camo paint job, guess I could skip that now.

I have used the wrap/tape that Sputnik mentioned, it adds some grip because it's a bit rubbery...I posted a similar question about it in the hunting forum and most people said that it's good but to take it off when storing the weapon for long periods of time as it can trap moisture and cause rust - basically use it on your hunting trip and then take it off afterward. The stuff is easy to take on and off, helps protect the gun from brush scratches, and seems to retain its "stickiness" after the 3 or 4 times I've used it without leaving residue on your gun.

Do you mind the rattle can style camo jobs? I recently discovered plasti dip and I am wondering if it can be applied in a camo style paint job suited to what you are looking for. When you are done, just peel it off.

that is basicly a paint job, you still got to prep it like you were gonna paint it. rattle can would be easier and cheaper.

What if you just camo tape your entire body, leave the gun alone. Animals may see your gun, but won't see you so won't feel threatened as a gun cannot fire itself. It might work.

I don't mind the look of the rattle can camo jobs, but I wont want something permanent. Plasti dip would be something to look into.

But the politicians make me think my gun can fire by itself... LOL
