Live Scan vs DROS - conflict? one delay the other?

    Hi all,

I am waiting a Live Scan check for a promotion at work; non LE in CA. I've been waiting over 60 days and in fact was called back for a second Live Scan today. FBI check is the delay is what I get from the automated phone system. This is my first Live Scan. I've researched that and know what's up.

Outside of work I have my eye on a SSE. I've been hesitant on doing the DROS as I'm concerned the DROS may clash (?) with the Live Scan and further delay my job prospects.

I've gone through many (now that I think about it about 10 long and hand) DROS within the past five or so years. So I'm not worried about the DROS itself (or the Live Scan either) but rather if the DROS and Live Scan will clash and my wait for a new job will be delayed longer.

So should I DEROS or wait? Kind of like the Clash song but it does not work out phonetically.

Is this the Di Fi revenge for all of my previous letters?

    Thanks

My experience with live scan is that it searches for criminal issues.

I have hired people who were live scanned and I got a copy of their sealed juvinile RAP sheets. I know which employees shoot/ own guns and it never came back on the employer check.

        Live Scan vs DROS

        @hermosabeach

Thanks for your input. I am thinking they are different data bases per my research and your response.

I'll see what else pops up here and go from there.

        Thanks again

The instant background check that goes with a DROS, is a record search by name and date of birth. A livescan is a criminal record check based on name, date of birth, and finger prints, and is much more accurate than the instant background check system. Will they cross the same path? Probably, will one slow or delay the other? Not likely.

            Yup^ well said.

I'll probably be getting mine done in a week or so, I spotted the residency check officer yesterday leaving my house. Brown honda accord, in front of my house. What have him away was his bald head the LEO black polo, screamed LEO lol He was typing on his laptop in the passenger seat which is what really have him away. It's cool tho since I just had my interview sat, so it's moving quickly. Can't wait to finish this up and get my shield.

I did my livescan a couple months back for a CCW here in Orange County. In theory the FBI/DOJ background checks usually come back in 1-2 days and you spend 4 weeks waiting on the firearms check to come back. My FBI check was delayed for so long that the firearms clearance actually came back first. I'm not sure why the whole thing was held up, but you aren't the only one the FBI doesn't seem to like...
I wouldn't worry about DROS. Buy away.

Over this summer I've had to do two livescans, second one I started a DROS the same day. No issues here.

Those records weren't sealed. I know for a fact those aren't returned during a live scan since I've pulled my records via the live scan process and none of my sealed records came back.
