The gentleman you are referring to was Glenn Cameron. I thought that looked like his work, Larry Mears tends to bury the Bomar's a bit deeper.
Glen was a very good competitor at the old Redding Gun Club and I used to shoot against him often. My most prized trophy is from a tournament of champions for the monthly "handgun 21" shoot winners and I shot against Glenn Cameron and defeated him in the final. Larry did a compensated pin gun for me years ago, it's my favorite 1911 unfortunately it's developed a small crack in the frame below the left front slide rail after many, many thousands of rounds, hence why I'm on the lookout for a pre 80 Combat Commander to put my slide on. I also own one of Larry's personal competition guns, I believe it was his first pin gun, when we first started shooting IPSC it was the one he built for it. I think Larry's work is top notch.

The Wilson grip strap thingie just slips under the grips, although i took a screwdriver and bent the edges down into the cutout beneath the grips to lock it in place more securely so that it couldn't slide vertically. 99% of the people that see it on my old pistol think that it's actually cut checkerring. I like the new look. Looks a lot better than the old version. The grips give it a newer look. The Hogues make it look 80's.Comment
