    cheap sight pusher.

I was looking for one for my 1911 and didn't want to spend $100+ on one so I was going to make one. Well to my surprise I found one for a great price on ebay, I know ebay I not the greatest of places, but couldn't pass it up. Looks like just a section of steel tubing with pieces of aluminum and bolts, but it worked awesome. I did put a piece of craft foam around my slide to prevent scratches. It cost like $34 plus shipping! To me for that price it was not even worth it for me to make my own. Just go to ebay and search sight pusher. I am in no way affiliated with the seller, just want to help others that may be looking for an affordable sight pusher.

    I have one.

Pushed a dozen or more sites with it across 6-7 different pistol types.

It has limits. For example, I have had to make my own thin spacers to get the slide up high enough for the pusher to make low enough contact on the rear site so as to put the pressure lower on the sight. Also, it can get awkward on front sites as the recoil spring area hangs down so you have to sort of shift back the big bottom spacer to lineup proper. Also, this unit pretty much MUST be used in a vise. I have used it enough to know, no way one could hold this unit in their hand and manage all of the shifting of the spacers and line everything up all perfect and do it in their hands. If you can, you are an animal as no way I could see it possible. And things tend to shift as the holes in the 2 spacers are not real precise so a little slop and said 2 spacers also are not always precise height so there can be a slight gap between the lower big spacer and the 2 top smaller square spacers and so things shift when you go to tighten down. And, for pushers to work, fit and lining up everything needs to be pretty damn precise as you are dealing with very precise tolerances and little room for error.

So I have always been able to make it work, but in some setups based on variations of slides and variations of heights of sights, it can be a real PITA to use - and hour to pull and push new sights. But, use it 1 time, and you virtually paid for what someone will charge. Use it 2 times, you are above water. But on this model/type... we got what we paid for. Not extreme precision, not great fit.

I think I got lucky with my sights cuz they were not super tight and had no issues holding it. I can see that it would not be one size fits all, but it is 100 X better than hammer and punch.

Oh hell yeah, anything is better than a hammer and brass punch.

But I have pulled and pushed on some notorious slides - XDsc for example - and made it work. But it was exasperating and way more effort than expected. But at this stage, I have saved myself and friends so much money it is worth it and I like to be self sufficient and I am a DIY kind of guy.

Just saying for other buyers... YMMV so be informed - the higher cost to something more precise and elaborate 'might' be worth the coin as these can be finicky to use.
