    AR Pistol Question

If you purchased a stripped lower in CA and you move to another state, can you take that lower and turn it into an AR pistol build if the lower has never had a stock and upper attached?

I was under the impression that CA logs all stripped lowers as rifles, and therefore even if you never assembled the lower into a rifle, taking it into another state and building it into a pistol would be no-no?

they're typically logged as "other" I believe

I have the same "issue" but don't think it will be a problem

That saves me having to buy a new lower.

          Under Federal laws/regulations...
Depends on what the ATF 4473 form was marked.
As long as it was marked "other", it would be legal to make it into a handgun.

Keep in mind that ATF 4473 forms before 11-2008, did not have the "other" option.
So, avoid using a receiver that was acquired before 2009.

i remember way back and mine were either written for type "stripped receiver" or "frame"
