New here, need advice about local shops

Hi everybody, long time lurker and first time member.

23, located in Chino and going to UCRiverside right now.

About to get into firearms but I do have some knowledge about them.

Anyone know of some reputable shops near Riverside or Chino? Everytime I ask or search on Google, I come across extremely vague sites. Whether its for guns shops or ranges, I can never find info on stock, pricing, rental fees or info of the like.

Currently trying to get my hands on a 870 or a RIA 1911, by renting to get a feel for them and actually buying them as well. Any help? Where I should go or do?

Welcome to the forums. Good luck with your first purchases, I'm sure some more people will chime in with shop suggestions soon.

If you're in the market for just a shotgun, you should head down to the big five in riverside or temecula. Both have good selections of shotguns. Just today while getting ammo I saw a mossberg 500 at big five for about $250, which is a pretty sweet deal.

Yeah, I can go to the Turners nearby, but I want to get a feel for the 870 or 500 first

The RIA is one the best bang for your $. Get the Tactical model, well worth the few extra $.

Welcome! I live in Riverside and work at UCR. Warrior One is less than ten minutes from UCR and generally has a good inventory, but their prices are a little steep (awesome for PPTs, often in and out in less than 15 minutes). I haven't gotten over there yet, but it seems like Riverside Indoor Shooting Range is a decent nearby range that will let you shoot an array of weapons. Can't really go wrong with either the 500 or the 870 for the $200-300 price point. Good luck

Well thats what happens, everyone has a different opinion on different shops.

I generally want to find a shop that will let me fondle their items to get a feel for them. I don't mind buying a used 870 or new so that puts retail and pawn shops togther.

Just want to start off with an pump shotgun, a officer sized 1911 and maybe move to a autoloading shotgun like the Remington 1100

OC Indoor Range in Brea is not far from you. They have a small gun counter inside. The prices and service are decent. They will also let you shoot your new gun inside their range during the 10 day waiting period.
                          Good luck.

There are two other good gun shops really close to UCR. They are Centerfire firearms, and Bullseye Sport. And Big 5 is 1/2 way between them, all just off of Central.
I have stuff in jail at Bullseye.

Oh I almost forgot that they are opening a new Ammo Bros location in Riverside off the 91 at the Tyler exit.

                              870, great shotgun!
1911? Awesome gun but I would not reccomend that for a first handgun. Grab a Glock (or a Springfield XD if you have some sort of problem handling a Glock grip like I keep hearing about)
