    Ammunition Storage

I'm curious what system people use to store their ammo compared to their living situation. For example, do you use your method because it seems to work best for a 2nd story apartment? Or do you like it because it's relatively inexpensive?

Right now I'm using a bunch of labeled ammo cans. Kinda cumbersome, but I already had a bunch of ammo cans and picked up some more on the cheap, so it works for me. I keep these in a locked cabinet. Ammo cans are marked with a magnetic label that I wrote the caliber on in Skerple Sharpie.

I've thought of other methods, but I want to see what the CG community comes up with.

Ammo cans. Because you can stack them. They are durable and have the o-ring to seal.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

I keep ammo in different places. Some cans, some crates, some jars/pillbottles (great for loose .22). Some easy to get, some locked up. Some with loaded mags in them. Some cans are just magazines.

I sharpie right on the can or box. Remove with a wipe of carb cleaner or just write/paint over it. Silver sharpie shows up nicely on the dark green.

I just grab ammo by the handful and dump it into old socks.

That way if I need the ammo I can use it, if I just need to hit someone with a sock full of ammo, I can do that too.

If you haven't seen it with your own eyes,
or heard it with your own ears,
don't make it up with your small mind,
or spread it with your big mouth.

This here is good. I use "shipping tags" to label my cans though since I like to update the quantity when I remove or add ammo, and I also like to have a few cans with several mixed calibers ready to grab and go.

I slap clear packing tape on anything that needs a label.

I write on the packing tape with sharpie. To relabel, pull the tape, add fresh tape and write.

I have piles of ammo cans, stacks of crates, a fridge full of boxed ammo, boxes of misc. loose rounds. I really need to take a month and try to organize it but, I don't have the room to keep it all in one place.

rimfire - centerfire in ammo cans. Some shotgun in .410/ 20 ga./ 12 ga. in bug out ammo cans. Cases of shot shells in factory boxes have 10 different cases.

I keep them in the same box/container they came in when I bought them. Have it stacked and sorted in a big cabinet with dehumidifiers works well for me.
