How's a felony indictment work? Do you have to turn your guns in pending trial? Possibly no more photo-ops like the one below...

    Innocent until proven guilty.
I love America for the rights and freedoms we used to have.

That sounds nice, but it's not always true. For instance, as in the case of restraining orders.

I'm curious if being indicted by a grand jury triggers anything, as opposed to a simple arrest.

Idk about then confiscating his firearms, BUT.

Probably heading for a speedy trial & judgment of his peers and much need publicity for his campaign, and extreme exposure for the party involved in his indictment.

Then will see some fireworks me thinks...because I don't think he'll accept any kind of deal, to me, he seems the type to go all the way (full on) or nothing at all...

Since it's a local county Grand Jury, it would depend on TX state law. I'm guessing that he's good unless/until he is convicted.

He's not a felon yet, all his charges could be dismissed.

922(n) It shall be unlawful for any person who is under indictment for a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year to ship or transport in interstate or foreign commerce any firearm or ammunition or receive any firearm or ammunition which has been shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce.

so, I don't think his possesion rights are prohibited at this point, but he might now be able to play at Larue and do any more test target shooting anymore that the people get with their new built rifle. (starts getting real grey if he has "received a firearm that was shipped or transported in interstate commerce" if the firearm is still at the factory in which it was built)

and indictment applies to any jurisdiction in the US, federal or state, .

921(a)(14) The term “indictment” includes an indictment or information in any court under which a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year may be prosecuted.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Probably if he lived in California.

His private security team can carry even if he can't.

We should all be so lucky.

I'm not a rick perry fan - far from it, but the charges are dubious at best and purely political in nature.

He basically cut off funding to an agency being run by a drunk on political witch hunts. I think he should be commended, not prosecuted.

The dros papers ask...have you ever been convicted, not indicted. There is a BIG DIFFERENCE. Ask OJ. He can tell ya!!!

true, the state DROS paperwork only asks about conviction, but the federal 4473 asks about indictments as well. I posted the USC above that shows that he could not currently transfer a firearm through an FFL at this time, even though he has not been convicted at this time.

SAN ANTONIO (Reuters) - A felony indictment for abuse of power will hit Texas Governor Rick Perry, an avowed gun enthusiast, where it hurts - by curtailing some of his rights to bear firearms. http://news.msn.com/us/texas-governo...un-toting-ways
