It's value lays in the fact - Unfire, limited, Colt custom shop.

If you plan to shoot it, value goes down tremendously with collectors. The piece is worth at least 2000 if not more IMHO.

Please post pics of this rare beauty for us to enjoy - Whatever you decide, enjoy it.

Exactly, I buy my wife Dooney and Burke and Coach and these other fancy smancy bags and some she doest want to take thwm out for fear of messin them up
          Whatever.

As far as your Colt goes, you preserved it that long, I would just wipe her down and put it back in the safe. Those things are RARE to find in that condition. I have room in my safe if you need it to go to a good home

Either way, put up a picture for us to drool over!

She's a beauty - If you haven't already, I'd call Colt and get an archive letter from them.

                    Colt

Keep it the safe...every time a "new in box" Colt gets used, the "new in box" ones go up in value.

                    Keep all the packing material
Keep the box and every thing in it

Don't replace any parts or have anyone work on it.

Collectors pay top dollar for top factory (as it came from the factory..nothing else) condition.....shooters don't

How many did Colt make of these?...How many have been already used? Do you have the last "New in box" one out there?

Did you buy it to shoot it, or look at it?

Why pay the depreciation...Buy used and use.

Good collector guns appreciate so fast that you can afford to sell one and buy three shooters.

                          Don't fire it.

Colt's are like Gold. Just stare at it once in a while, and try spray wax to
keep the prints off. Even the rogue fingerprint can detract from the value
                          of that fine piece!

From the pics it looks like it already has some handling wear on it. If you plan on keeping her for awhile I'd say shoot it and clean her up. If you decide to keep her to shoot go for it, if not you'll still be able to sell her for a good amount of money here in CA.

If you can't decide, trade her off or sell her for a good chunk of money and buy a different high-end 1911 you'll be okay with shooting. I'm planning on selling my 80's Gold Cup to get a TRP or similar.

This is the first time I have seen one of those.
