Jeez. I have been cleaning out the back room of the local gun smith, buying whole lots of 3-8 guns at a time for what works out to be about $25-55 a piece. Most of them are project guns because somewhere over the past century, some idiot Bubba tried to sporterize them. I have 2 Ross 1910s, one of which is down to just attaching the rear sight. 3 1895 Dutch Mannlichers ranging from almost restored to "I can't believe somebody did this to a rifle". Probably a dozen mauser, arisaka and enfield projects. A 1903 Greek Mannlicher that somebody with the technical expertise of a rabid baboon tried to turn into a carbine sporter, complete with what looks like a bolt handle that real WAS a butterknife handle crudely welded on. A Winchester 1894 saddlering carbine in 25-35 made in 1903, and missing everything forward of the receiver except the barrel. And probably about a half a dozen Lee-Enfields that afer functional, but need work. If I come home with one more junker, Mrs. Monkeyboy is going to use it to club me to death. I guess I'll just have to sneak them in...

Time is the issue for me, I'm doing what I can though. Trying to get back into some other hobbies as well, it's been quite awhile since I brewed. Sterilizing my brewing equipment and Conical fermenting vessel, replacing all the pump hoses and getting the system ready to brew again took some time last weekend. This weekend I brew my I2PA clone and my Anchor Steam clone. Double session!

I can see how an Ak would be considered a project, quite a few tools are required to assemble one from a kit and even more if you are building from a flat.

An AR on the other hand is more like owning a set of Lego's. Snap it together and you are good to go. Not much of a challenge, considering the fact that whenever a difficult or custom job needs to be completed most folks call on Randall.

So is this a fair assumption? AK buildiing requires skill and AR building is just assembly and requires money more than skill.

That's true, IMO as well. Since you mentioned it, I edited my post to include that my AR10 projects are not complete receivers.

The way I intended it was for ANYTHING that you started firearm related and then moved on to another before you finished what you intended for the other.

I own six guns. Only two are in what I would consider a finished state. The other four compete for attention from my wallet with a new motorcycle and the fact I spend too much on tools for my job.

Project 1)
CZ452 Special, still trying to find an acceptable hunting/target scope WITHOUT having to take off the open/iron sights. I'm looking at one of Burris' Timberline 4.5-14x32AO scopes. Probably mean a new set of rings also.

Project 2)
Smith & Wesson Model 19-3 4", currently at the smith's. I knew it was a "beater" when I bought it. When it gets back from the gunsmith, it'll need to be sent to either S&W or Fords for refinishing/reblueing. Meanwhile, I'll be getting grips & holsters for it.

This is my top two - there's a few more that aren't quite done yet.
