Just got my HSC and put a gun on hold for SSE!!!

Well I'm super excited! After work today I called around the bay and not only found someone to do an SSE for a reasonable price, but he actually had the exact gun I wanted right there in front of him! No waiting to order it, no back orders, no shipping delays, no funny business or maybes of any kind. I gave him my info and he's put it on hold for me to come start the paperwork in a few days.

I then went down to my LGS and aced the HSC test, 30 for 30. Didn't even study

Just to be sure, in addition to my driver's licence and HSC, I need to bring some other proof of address, right? The 2nd proof doesn't need to be gov't issued, correct? Would a bank statement or pay stub work? Those are the most recent things I've gotten.

So what pistol did you pick up? To answer your questions...yes, you need to bring other proof of address. I usually bring car registration, cable bill, or utility bill. I don't think bank statement will work and I'm not sure about pay stub. If I'm wrong someone will be here shortly to correct me.

      It's a 2 hour drive and I don't want to forget anything.

      The aforementioned pistol:

      S&W E-Series 1911 TA
Stainless w/ black coating, target crown, over-sized extractor and ejection port, tritium sights, checkering errywhere, sweet scales/scallops, no funny drop safeties, some of the nicest (non-custom) grips I've ever seen, and a rail. A somewhat unsightly but perfectly utilitarian rail in case I have to shoot something in the dark, so I won't get busted for "no light, couldn't see properly..."

Bank and pay statement will prob not work becasue they can be changed at will and is not bound to your residence. http://oag.ca.gov/firearms/resprf

Bank statement or pay stub don't normally work as they are not really tied to a residential address. Car registration or utility bill or rental agreement would suffice and is normally what's accepted. Cell phone bill, IIRC, is not considered a utility bill.

Also curious to know what handgun you had put on hold.

            I hope all goes well!

Congrats. Depending on your FFL, some won't accept just any utility bill. I've been to one... I think Big 5... that insisted it must be a gov't-affilitated entity, such as PG&E or EBMUD. AT&T or Comcast bill wouldn't cut it. I'd hate to see you drive 2 hrs and have to make another trip. Probably would help to call and ask them what is an acceptable form of POR.
