    Just bought a vest. Opinions?

Been in the market for one and these were so cheap I couldn't find a better deal.

    "Used good condition"
    Payed 230 shipped. Bulletproofme.com

    It's type II+

(2 type II inserts on each side)

Wish it was black but other then that it fits great and goes well under a sweater/jacket

    What do you guys think?

It looks really used from the pics. What are the expiration dates on it?

And are you wearing that everyday? 2 inserts on each side must suck at the end of your shift

          What's it made from?
          What's the expiration date?

For what it's worth because you said you wish it was black... Black clothing literally looks like day glow when someone's using NVGs against you, so be glad that it's not.

A vest is just not something I would buy used. I think I would also want level 3A.

It will work fine against pistols. Level 3a works better against pistols like .44mag but when was the last time you heard of someone getting shot with a .44 mag? It's a fine pistol vest as long as it's been cared for properly. What's it made out of? Some vests go to crap in high temps like when stored in the trunk of a car. Bulletproof me is a pretty legit company.

I wouldn't worry much about age of the plates. As long as they haven't been abused they should be fine. They are only supposed to be "good" for 5 years, but I've shot vests that were 5-15 years old and have yet to get penetration short of dumping 50+ rounds into it. And that was with mostly level 2 armor. I would get a second carrier for the extra plates and have 2 vests. Other than weight and discomfort, you really don't gain much by having 2 sets of plates in the 1 carrier.

It's a crap shoot as the panels could have been worn a ton and never washed or perspires heavily on and be fine, or someone could have washed them out of the box and compromised them. I had the opportunity to shoot at an "expired" vest that held up perfectly to a 9mm at 7 yards, then another that wasn't expired but had been washed/soaked and was useless

Congrats on the used II vest.

It is like most things...if/when you need it, you need it bad.

You don't have the official calguns cash money comforter set?

Bought mine from bulletproof me. About 3 years ago and it was a good vest for the money. I also added a stab plate to the front pocket as well to give me extra protection since most of my work is close contact. It fits well and feels thin. Yours looks kinda bulky and don't like the two tone color. Like others have said, it's better to have a vest than no vest at all.

I think I ordered it through expertish... never received. I do protect my neck though and I'm sure OP subscribes to the theory of C.R.E.A.M.
