is refinish job needed on a SS pistol?

Hi, need some advice. I have a 1911 in sa custom shop for front strap checkering, trigger under cut and slide top serration. The sales person recommends also for "refinish", which I don't understand why it is necessary, because the pistol is stainless steel.

How do you think and why? thanks

The front strap and some areas of the slide are a grey satin finish. Yes it will need to be refinished.

Is bead blasted on the round surfaces stainless steel on the flat surfaces.

Unless you like different textures and reflectiveness, in blotches, on different parts of the gun, it will need to be refinished

will armory kote or cerakote take care of it, if not go for ss?

They bead blast it when they refinish SS so that the surface all looks the same. I'd have them do it since it is much cheaper than bluing.

I've had plenty of work done on a stainless pistol done at Springfield, and was never charged for refinishing / media blasting.

springfield charges $65 for refinish after front strap checkering job on stainless steel. it is very clear with custom shop replied email to me.

I wouldn't have it coated, unless that is what you want, just have them bead blast it to match the existing finish
