Anyone ever do this to help minimize scratches? Or any issues with holding zero or stability when doing this?

Please don't take this wrong way, but it's a gun, not a piece of fine China. Don't sweat the small stuff.
However, if I was dead set on trying to prevent scratches, I would use a thin coat of oil and slowly tighten the optic, not a paste. -
I've got froglube liquid also that I can use.
I get that the gun is not a piece of fine China, and my user guns have scratches and taken drops all the time in training or use. I get it. However if theres a way I can help reduce wear, why not?
