Big 5 DROS Delay?

I'm bummed. Yesterday was the final day of my 10 day waiting period, I bring my paperwork into the store, and I get told there is a delay.

I ask why? Big 5 says, "I don't know, call this number" 916-227-3752. I call the number and it goes to an announcement saying something like "there could be several reasons for the delay, we don't talk about this over the phone".

I wonder what is going on? They must be backlogged at the DOJ because I am sqeeky clean? Could it be because I bought 2 guns and only paid 1 fee? What percentage of delays get sorted out in a reasonable amount of time? I hope this is cleared by this weekend. I really want to enjoy Chabot Gun Club before it gets shut down.

You were likely randomly selected for a delay. This has been going on for years.

What exactly did they tell you? Did they say that you were put on hold, they haven't gotten the release from DOJ? Because IF I remember right, if they didn't outright deny you, they're supposed to release the firearm if they haven't denied you.

I have never had a issue at Big5. Always a good experience there. No delays.

No FFL, including Big 5, has any control of delays.

Nothing to do with Big 5 - they have no info and no control just like any other FFL. Read this, and welcome to the party pal!

after 30-days, CADOJ will reconfirm that they couldn't outright deny him, and at that point it is up the discretion whether to release or not. I haven't heard if Big5 will release on those "couldn't approve or deny" authorizations.

Check to See that You Don't have Parking Tickets

That's not an issue if you use your ID and not your drivers license.
