This is one of the reasons I still use an eight year old Motorola flip phone with no GPS. At any rate, I'm a carpenter & using the nail gun would phuk the app anyway...

"Our concept today is to create hundreds of iPhone and Android apps that look like they are for preppers, target recording, Duck Dynasty fans, etc. but really are used to pinpoint the cell phone that was in the vicinity."
haha... i want to think this is a joke, but i know how loony some of the libtards can get about what they are allowed to do in the name of their "progressive" agenda.

My range doesnt have a signal for my provider even though the range installed their own signal booster.

Any time I go to the range, I set my phone on 'airplane mode' so my battery doesnt die looking for a signal.

So, as stupid as this idea sounds, it doesnt affect me personally.

If I were to fire some shots at my home... there are far more important things going on than these idiots knowing I own guns.....

              Gun tracking technology

Several states *know* that technology they are trying to mandate puts life in danger, yet they don't care as long as they exempt their own police.

Also, this is a wrong thread. Read the OP - it's about an app, not about (yet another) attempt to have electronic locks on guns.
So is this thread just an exercise to post fear tactics to a bogus post. If not where is a link to an article in an actual magazine or news organization. An anonymous posting with no facts is not something that merits the extent of the further falsehoods based on these non facts. I tried to find the article about new technology for guns. There are plenty of them based on this technology from this California startup. It appears to be a big help for law enforcement to quickly get them backup to their location. The tech that can track and triangulation to where a gun was fired has been around for a while now. It uses existing security feeds to accomplish this. No feeds for use in rural areas so only used in metropolitan areas. The UK is big on it but security cams are numerous. I'm unaware of legitimate websites or blogs that allow posting from an anonymous source. I would be much obliged for a link to a credible location for the article that this thread is for. This qurom or however it's spelled cannot be considered as reliable. Forbes, Wallstreet Journal or FoxBusiness among others of these types would be helpful.

The article I referenced is about new tech that cannot work without the app. The gun when fired accesses the app in officers smartphone via a bluetooth connection. Also it in no way can lock the gun electronicly. The only technology i'm aware of that can accomplish this is with biometrics or with a wristband. The biometrics is using your thumb or fingerprint to enable its firing mechanism. I'm partial to my mechanical lock on the hammer.

                  Gun tracking app

http://gunssavelives.net/blog/new-an...-to-all-users/ Now here 's an app to get upset about. It's already at Googleplay for download. Give it a catchy name and a misleading statement to report irresponsible gun owners and if you would be dumb enough to fall for it you most likely need watched. The danger comes from these watchdogs putting in other owners location without their knowledge. This is something that the NRA needs to get removed and protest Google until it's gone. I neglected to check the Apple site for iPhones.

Dude, that's so last year and has already been discussed at length here on Calguns.

                            Gun tracking app

USACracer,So you're having difficulty understanding my post. If you were to click the hyperlink it may serve as a catalyst to unfog your mind. In a previous post I requested a link to what this "story" was about so then I was informed that it was about an app only. Then it was thrown in about concerns of remote locking of a firearm. I don't think a working technology even exists for something like that. So I broadened my search parameters for an app only to track individual discharging of a gun. No luck finding anything on that either. The only working app I could find a mention of is an app that requires postings from the gun owner about their own gun to create a database of gun owners location and make and model of their guns. The "responsible" gun owner is tasked to report irresponsible gun owners. This app is all ready for download at the Google play store. There is nothing in this app to prevent the user from adding other gun owners without their consent. So the app gunsavelives has already been discussed here last year. I am surprised that it is still available for download. The link that has been provided for this thread leads to an anonymous post on quorum. A legitimate blog or news sites doesn't allow anonymous posting. If this app exists in the real world then there should be an article about it on a reputable blog or news media website. I'm truly sorry my posting is confusing to you and that it gives you a headache. Is there a link for the topic of this thread other than an anonymous post. I can only find the 2 applications that are not and cannot be mandated for guns and they are -

^ USACracer's comment was a snarky slight towards lack of paragraph breaks.

Wall of Text can be confusing to follow, especially from a mobile browser.

My understanding of this is that the phone app logs a suspected gun shot then attributes the owner of that phone to being a gun owner, and little more. It's not "tracking" you, but in a sense could also use Geo-Tagging/tracking to log where the shot was made by GPS documentation.

However, I suspect they will be logging a whole lot of "firearm owners" every July 4th, from anyone that ever attends a fireworks display, public or private.

Can't wait for the super Anti-2nd Amendment dildo-bag to whine about being logged as a gun owner because a balloon popped in close proximity to his phone, during his husband's birthday party.
