went shooting with ear plugs, left ear completely deaf

So went shooting indoors. Used ear buds as I usually do. Took ear buds out after I was done, and my left ear felt like I still had the plugs in.

Its beem about 3 hours with no change. Freaking out a little. I can barely hear, and when using earphones to compare left to right, very low and muffled and cannot make anything out. Also get a slight speaker blown kinda noise every once in a while.

Add this to my worst year of my life. I really hope this is temp.

I think that's why most recommend that you double up when shooting indoors.
I hope your hearing returns.

It could be as simple as you just packed some ear wax on top of the ear drum with your ear plugs.

You might have just shoved some ear wax deep into your ear with the plug. I'm assuming you weren't experiencing any pain from the pressure waves while shooting?

I've messed up my ear (not as bad) with foamies in while sleeping before. Took 2 days for the ringing and "mushiness" to go away.

Ear buds? Do you mean plugs like foam roll-up/silicone plug type, or ear buds as in some kind of audio-listening things you plug into an IPhone?

Personally, I always use BOTH foam ear plugs AND 29db ear-muffs.

Head to your local drug store and purchase an ear wax cleaning kit. I just happened to see a few today at Walgreens while browsing around. There should be a few to choose from.

Foam ear buds. I had the ear muffs, but stupid me took them off because it was like a 100degrees I side. They were filling up with sweat. (Yes I really do sweat that much when I'm hot, sometimes cold even)

A guy on our left had a rifle with huge muzzle brake that had huge pressure wave that blew your shirt up while in the lane over. My buddy wearing ear buds aswell wasn't affected. No pain during shooting or right now. Just uncomfortable, sorta numb feeling, couldn't even feel wind in my ear as I drove with window down.

I tried cleaning ear out with peroxide, with out any change hoping it was ear wax

Yea foamies bother my ears a lot during shooting especially long trips. I would wait about 24/hr and see if it comes back. As long as you know they were in all the way you should be fine. Maybe a ear wax clot or something. If not to see the doc


Also I always double up hearing protection, use my ear pro with the indoor plugs, and usually use range rental muffs on top of it. Indoor is moderately louder than out door. With simple muffs or ear pro you could still cause some heading damage.

Yup. Go hit up the local 24/hr drug store, get a kit with the bulb and solution, follow the instructions, and if nothing changes... then consider the doctor.

Don't jam q-tips in your ear, those are terrible for cleaning your ears out(they get wax on the sides, but typically just jam wax further into your ear).

edit: I saw you replied as I was typing out my response... peroxide? As in hydrogen peroxide? That's not quite the same stuff as what's in the kits, and you need to leave it in your ear for a couple minutes(you didn't mention how long).

Get this,this is what the doctor used on me when my right ear was plugged. I used the OTC ear drips and bulb before and it didn't work for jack ish.

My right ear is a little hard of hearing too but very slightly, the left side is bad and was thr side with the guy with giant brake. Really don't think its wax problem.

So upset that I took the muffs off, just couldn't stand the sweat it was creating inside filling my ears almost. Fck
