First time reloading on my own

First time ever reloading on my own. Setup the Rock Chucker Supreme. Resized three .30-06 cases using small base dies to shoot in a Browning BAR. Trimmed cases to proper length. Then deburred/chamferred the cases and cleaned the primer pocket.

    Used:

    RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Press
    RCBS Small Base Dies
    RCBS Case Trimmer
RCBS Lube Pad and Case Lube
    Lyman E-Zee case gage
    Lyman Case Prep Multi Tool

It wasn't as stressful as I had anticipated. No problems at all.

      Things I didn't expect:

Adjusting the die's decapping pin so it wasn't protruding too much.
On the down stroke I didn't expect any resistance, and it moved freely, then there was some pressure on the lever, then it moved freely again.

did you check the cases with a case guage or check to see if the empty case will fit into your chamber ?
there is a reloading section here.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

I have read and re-read, watched youtube videos, and when I was back home last time my brother loaded a few rounds and let me do three or so.

I checked the cases with a case gauge and then with calipers too. I haven't tried to chamber one yet, since it is a Browning Semi-Auto I am not sure what to do, you can't ease it forward and feel like you can with a bolt action.

Insert cartridge into chamber to feel if there is any sticking.

Okay. I am using small base dies if I didn't say so already.

Perfect..Many will say small base dies arent neceesary,my opinion is in a semi and especially one with a tight match chamber is that its definately a plus .You dont want any stopages when the shots neeed to count. All the small base die does is squeeze the case head a little more.

Good for you, I have been using a rock chucker for twenty years. Never felt the need to upgrade or go multi. It has paid for itself a hundred times over plus.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

It is a great feeling, making your own ammo. Testing new loads and shrinking groups is very rewarding.
