    Why not a .50 beowulf?

Nah, seriously, why not a 308/ ar10 style? Probably better for hunting, and many off the shelf ammo types, with the 6.8 or 40wt your selection is small.

I have a couple 6.8 spc ars and i like them I have 5.556 as well but for hunting small and medium game I like the 6.8. Ammo prices have been coming down as the round gains popularity. A .50 beowulf is not a long range cartridge more like a heavy pistol round like a .300 aac. Also you can use same ar lower for all of those calibers. I handload so that saves ammo cost and I can tailor loads to my needs.

If you could get away with just 100 cartridges or so, 6.8. But if you need 500 for target practice/blasting, then 40WT.

6.8 ammo and brass is kinda scarce and expensive. 223 to make WT, not at all.

looked it up. Cool stuff. I'm sure you can do both with either, so you've got a tough call to make. I'd pick 6.8 if I were you, but if you want to add "tinker" to your list, then for sure it would be the 7.62. If you wanted something you develop a load for, sight in, then good to go with your load for target and hunting, just throw in bag and go shoot, then 6.8 for sure.

For only an extra 11 millimeters, you could settle for a full size rifle cartridge that's cheap and prolific in every Western nation on the planet.

That's what I had originally planned but when I went to the wilson combat site to order the barrel. I saw the 762x40 WT for my first time so read up on it and seemed like a good idea because I have buckets of .223 Brass and also it's a heavier .308 Round instead of .270 Really what's more important to me is accuracy and the ballistics.so it looks like I'm just going to go with 6.8 spc thank for all the help.

if you are also building a 458, I don't see any reason to build a 30 over a 6.8 or even a 6.5 or smaller (but bigger than 22), unless you are specifically so jazzed about that cartridge that you just want it.

So I think you are making a good choice.

243WSSM-25WSSM or a plain ol 243 would be my pick.
