223 wylde & heavier rounds

Considering the seriously next build in 223 but know nothing of the round. As I am doing my DD, I heard that the the heavier rounds are a bit too big for a standard 223/556 mag. Any truth to this, any options for this?

Any thoughts or input is greatly appreciated

It's not a specific round, it's a different chambering in between 223 and 556. You can shoot either rounds with no issues

Some specialty 80 gr match ammo will not fit in either a magazine or a standard chamber. Any factory ammo 77 gr and under should be good to go with the exception of 75 gr A-Max which is also too long to fit in an AR magazine.

You can't fit any 80gr+ cartridges in any AR mag. Any 75gr+ VLD style will also not fit in an AR magazine.

You must single load.

This. It's my understanding that it's considered dangerous to shoot 5.56 cartridges in a .223 barrel, and shooting .223 cartridges in a 5.56 barrel may be less accurate. .223 Wylde is designed to allow firing either caliber without those issues.

Might also look into 6.5 Grendel and 300 AAC Blackout .

The 80 grain match bullets were designed for 600 yard national match shooting. That is fired one round at a time with single loading. That leaves room for enough powder to get decent velocities. The 77 grain match bullet was designed for shooting all stages and is designed to be shot from the magazine.

What about the AMAX? Do they fit mag length? Can be loaded to mag length?

I'm using 77 SMK now, but the 75 amax has a better BC... just could find any in stock anywhere....

80s will fit mag length!If your a rookie dont do it until someone who has shows you,and dont expect them to feed reliably.

Well op is looking for heavier rounds and I was a bit curious about it as I'm am also debating my next build

I believe the subect matter was to question heavier bullets in 223,op questioned the use of 80gr bullets.
