ok I got a few emails from her. she is a retired leo and seems very nice. I directe her to cancle her listing on ebay and either list it here or gunbroker... if she shows up here, try and be nice to her she is getting beat up real bad by ebayers

ya know, not everybody is a gun rights goober like we are. here is a chance for us to make a friend and help her out, and help her come to the understanding that ebayers are aholes and gun owners are good and helpful people.

Boy, does anyone else remember when eBay allowed firearms ads.

Wow, there would be some great deals and it was a freaking arms bazzar.

I blame all the damn sue happy people that started sueing firearms manufacters and gun dealers for their punk kids shooting up their own "hood".

eBay's lawyers told eBay that should they stop continuinug to offering guns, because they have deep pockets and everyone one and their mother will sue eBay. And even though eBay will probably win in the long run, fighting these suits are very very expensive (remember this was before Congress voted in the firearms manufacters protections act).

For eBay it was a purely business decision. I don't really blame them.

I don't think it was entirely as simple a business decision as you might think. Jeff Skoll and Steve Westly had a little bit to do with it (Yes, the same Steve Westly that is running for CA Governor). Check the background on these two guys and you will find they aren't limited to "purely business" only.

Jeff Skoll and Steve Westly (now running for CA governor), as part of the founding members and original organization of Ebay, have always been Anti-2nd Amendment and have worked hard to stop any type of Firearm sales and firearm ownership. Both have contributed to Anti-2nd Amendment organizations in sizable sums. While Jeff Skoll is no longer a part of Ebay, he established the trend for Ebay. Just look up Jeff Skolls' "charities" and the plans of his Foundation and its involvement, and find out more about his anti-2nd Amendment push.

To bad he got his but kicked picking on those groups that wear dresses (nurses and teachers). He would have had more support going after the prison gaurd union and that outrageous retirement plan that the thief Davis gave away in return for votes. You're right that it was a business decision, but it wasn't simply because of the potential for civil suits. I worked for Ebay when it was a small company, and had a small part in writing some of the policies for prohibited items. At the time, there were AG's from several liberal states as well as federal prosecutors from some liberal districts that were anti-gun. At that time, there was the very real possibility that they could have gotten an injunction forcing the entire Ebay site to shut down. All it would have taken was one judge. Yes Ebay could have fought it, but the site could have been shut down for days or weeks.
