All calgunners, help me with my research! Let me interview you!

    Hello all,

So I'm entering into my final year of college and I'm starting to work on my senior thesis. My project would involve face-to-face interviews with gun owners who live in areas with restrictive gun laws (in this case, all of California). All the recent pushes for gun control has really demonized us gun owners So my project seeks to give a more human face to gun owners through these interviews.

My main focus of the project is to talk to gun owners/enthusiasts about what it's like living their everyday lives in a community that stigmatizes gun ownership. Also, at a more basic level, I want to get to the many and varied reasons people like us own guns.

I'd love to get as wide a spread of people as possible so I'd love to get men and women of all races and perspectives. Yes, this includes all you closet liberals!

TL;DR- I want to interview you all and talk to you about what its like living in a state that hates guns (and also the joys of gun ownership).

If you're interested in being interviewed, please PM me! Also in the PM include your age and current occupation.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the interviews will be completely anonymous so I won't be using your real names/usernames or any identifying features.

What's your working title? Just note that your research has the capability to be "spun" multiple ways, depending on the authors views, assumptions, etc., so don't be surprised to find some people will be a little reluctant to volunteer.

Nobody stigmatizes my gun ownership. If they try, the conversation usually ends with a liberal crying after getting a terse education of the facts.

Yeah, I can understand the reluctance. I'm not trying to make interviewees look like gun-crazy hicks. Quite the opposite, in fact. I've met a number of calgunners through my purchases on the WTS/WTB forums and I've seen the diversity of people here. That's really what I want to illustrate in my project- that we're not who the media portrays us to be.

I'm a gun lover just like everyone else here and just want to represent our side better.

As for a working title... to be honest, I don't really have one yet. I usually think of one while I'm writing.

Monterey is a long way from me. What areas of the state are you willing to visit?
Keep in mind that Los Angeles County is around 50 miles North to South and East to West.

No thesis per se. It's meant to be an exploratory research project where I'll interview y'all and then analyze trends and outliers and report on that. So really, I'm not conducting these interviews to prove a point but rather to highlight a segment of American everyday life that doesn't get a lot of attention in academics.

Hey are you conducting the interviews? In person? Skype? Phone? If we participate will you give us a copy of your video project when it's finished?

Do the interviews include range time?

With a subject like this, don't expect a decent grade from your progessive professor.

Perhaps consider another, more PC subject in order to bump up your GPA?
It's your future career/income on the line. Once you graduate you can have all the studies you like without future employment consenquences.

WRONG. My daughter did the same research project in an anthropology class and not only got a perfect score, but the class discussion was fantastic. The creepy guy stopped hitting on her too.
