Oh, UPS why do you make me sad?

So, I just thought I'd tell my little story because, well, I have nothing better to do at the moment.

Anyway, I am just about finished with the build of my second AR. Slightly shorter and a bit lighter than the first. Three parts left and all ordered from Primary Arms. Tracking from PA said that I should be getting the package on Thursday of last week. So, on that day I decided to work on my car. Late afternoon I see a UPS truck drive by and thought "Okay, he'll swing by as he leaves the neighborhood". Truck never stopped at the house. After I was done with my car, for the fun of it I thought I'd check to see what tracking said for my package. In the back of my mind I was thinking "Wouldn't it be funny if it said it was delivered?" I log on, punch in the tracking number and "WTF!!! DELIVERED?!?!" Mind you, I live in San Diego. Last line for tracking says it was delivered in Chula Vista.

Friday I called UPS to let them know that tracking said that my package was delivered because first, I never received anything and second, the UPS truck never stopped at the house while I was outside so I know it wasn't "delivered". Apparently, even UPS customer service reads from a script.

UPS CS: Tracking for your package says it was left at the front door.
Me: I just explained to you that nothing was left at the front door because the UPS driver never stopped at my house.
UPS CS: Are you sure it wasn't left near the front door or at the side of the house?
Me: I was outside when the package was supposedly delivered but a UPS truck never came by.
UPS CS: Did you check with your neighbors or maybe someone in your family?
Me: UPS NEVER STOPPED AT THE HOUSE!!! (Yes, I did raise my voice just a tad)
UPS CS: It says it was delivered at ************. (She reads off my address to me)
Me: Yes, that's where it should have been delivered to but it wasn't.
UPS CS: I will open an investigation for a lost package.
Me: It wasn't lost. Your tracking says it was delivered so your driver gave it to someone.

That was Friday. So today I thought "I wonder if there are any updates when you open a ticket with UPS?" Log into UPS.com and type in the tracing number and, lo and behold, there's an update to the tracking info. First, I see that it logged my ticket for a lost package. Then, what's this? Whoever they delivered it to says they didn't order it and refused delivery. Okay, nice. I'll get it back. Except the next line says it's being returned to sender and it's already in L.A. WHAT!!!! I was too upset to talk to someone at UPS so I used their online chat.

Me: I'm inquiring about my package on tracking ********.
UPS CS: Yes, it shows that it was delivered.
Me: Actually, I opened a ticket last week because I never received the package.
UPS CS: It says it was left at the front door. Did you check around the area or with your neighbors?
Me: I already explained all this before. That's why I opened a ticket. If you look at the tracking info you will see that it was updated.
UPS CS: I see. You refused delivery and it is being sent back to the sender.
Me: That wasn't me that refused delivery. It must have been the person that the driver gave my package to.
UPS CS: Are you sure someone in your family didn't refuse the delivery?
Me: The truck never stopped at the house at the time it said it was delivered.

I basically had to explain this three times to their online chat person. I also asked if I could have them intercept and reroute the package to me instead of back to the sender since I am the original recipient. She said no. Ugh.

I also sent an email to Primary Arms to let them know that they should be expecting my order back and would appreciate it if they could just send it back to me. So, I sit here patiently, waiting to receive the last three items so I can finish my build.

Can't stand getting the stone-wall of stupidity. Keep talking to different people. eventually, someone has to have a little common sense. I've found in similar situations that being extra friendly on the phone does go a long way. I'm not saying you weren't before... just my $0.02

Sounds like an attempted theft. Why else would it be marked DELIVERED but then, when questioned, it turns up REFUSED DELIVERY? When the theiving driver realized it wasn't a gun, ammo, or other item he could use or easily sell, he fakes a refused delivery and sends it back to the shipper to cover his tracks. His initial plan must have been to claim it was stolen off your doorstep but you being home and out front foiled that story so he had to fall back on the refused line.

You guys really need to get stuff shipped to your workplaces, if possible. Saves you all kinds of headaches.

these always sound like theft to me.
maybe your package had a shipping label that said primary arms or something that led the driver to believe that something valuable inside.

my guess is that those all mailing companies including probably the US Post Office don't really WANT to catch their drivers doing something bad so they don't pursue it like they should.
it cost money to retrain a new driver and they already have insurance.(but they just don't want to use that either.)
and though it's better to have it shipped to a open 8 hours a day or more, business address that's not always possible and it doesn't guarantee against theft.

Of course it was theft. It always is.

I always wonder what is up when I see two UPS trucks and a van and a pickup in a parking lot moving some packages between the two trucks, some back into the first truck, and others get moved into the van or pickup. Sure as hell looks like "sorting" for the good stuff to me.

There is this old rule about paying a certain wage to get certain kinds of people but the idea is you have to pay someone enough to not only get "quality" individuals but also so that whatever they are handling does not become a "better" source of income than the company. It also helps not hiring ex-cons and felons to sort at hubs... which they do.. and pay them jack all.. small, high value means instant pay raise.
...but their exists also in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to attempt to lower the powerful to their own level, and reduces men to prefer equality in slavery to inequality with freedom.

Ups stole my ar15 at the local hub. The tracking information even said something like : package found opened and all contents missing"

My neighbor was in prison for two years and got a job at the local hub sorting boxes, so yes, they hire felons to do that.

That story sounds just like the experience I had with Fed X last year.
Not once but twice in two months driver said he had delivered when he never even stopped by the house.
Got in quite a shouting match at the local hub when I told the manger his driver was and out and out lair.
                  Never seen that driver since.

I would if I could, but my workplace is at home. I work remotely.

I'm just hoping that when Primary Arms reships the package that it actually gets to me. All that I'm waiting for is the gas block and tube, and a muzzle brake. After that, 2nd AR is done and then I work on finishing the 3rd.

I never use UPS for residential delivery. Here is what happen to me

1st) ordered sneaker for my mom, it said delivered but never came. 3 days later someone decided to leave an opened box sneaker with dirt on it by my garage next to the road.

2nd) order some target paper, it said delivered and again, nothing came. 1 week later, someone decided to leave an opened box package back to my house by trash bin.

3nd) ordered 700 bux scope, schedule delivery on the day i was home waiting. by 7:30 i heard a UPS truck near by and i run outside waiting. Driver didn't stop at my house instead he drop off some package to my neighbor house. i run to his truck ask him about my package. He just roll his eye and said nothing for you bro. i told him it supposes to delivery today. he said it might be on other truck. i ask him again can you check again. he go to the back of his truck and pull out my scope.

it all happen within a year.

i got so fed up with UPS, Fedex. i decided to have a UPS store mail box down from my street. Only location UPS driver won't Fxck up of delivery is the UPS store.

I think I'm going to see how the reshipment goes and then I may have to resort to using the UPS Store if I have issues again.

It happens less at the UPS store because there is higher accountability.

Shipping it to your work location is the safest bet. They will almost never mess up business shipments.
