What are your thoughts on the Ruger LC9

Women might find the slide a bit tough. Long trigger pull.
Nice piece though. Perfect size.
A great alternative in 380 would be the LC380.

That was my idea too, but my wife cant work the slide. The LC9 is now one of my CCW guns and she has a revolver.

Trigger is stupid long, if its for your girl have her try and rack it and dry fire if possible, renting one to shoot would be even better. My mother in law has a hard time with it. I did the Galloway trigger mod and its better but the racking is still an issue. Btw I believe they are off roster now

My wife picked the LC9 as her carry gun. She did all of the shopping, the comparisons, the feeling things out.
No issues so far, with around 200 rounds shot.

I carried one for a while. The rear sight used to walk until I gave it the lock-tite treatment. I eventually sold it off though. I am more accurate with a Glock 26 and, for me, it carries just as easily. Still, the LC9 is a fine gun.

yeah, loooong trigger. I like it, but a lot of people do not. Slide can be a bit hard to rack. make sure she shoots it and decides for herself.

Will do. BTW, I think they are off-roster due to the safety features, so they can be sold in CA & MA. Either way, it doesn't effect me. Looking forward to being in and out of there in about 15 mins.

Funny you should mention this - because I went and looked at it today, and the guy said "If she can't work the slide, we'll go right over to the revolver counter."

We are going to go down tomorrow morning and take a look at it. I need her to have a gun by sometime next month, because we are going to be taking a concealed class together.

I bought one and have it for a few weeks before I sold it. I put a couple hundred rounds through the gun and just didn't like the feel of the slim rectangled grip (felt better with a rubber grip sleeve on), didn't like the recoil, and didn't like the trigger pull at all.

Some minor things too like the slide was harder to rack (not impossible, just harder), didn't like the LCI, didn't like the mag disconnect.... although both of those were defeated on my gun. Overall, I just wasn't happy with it after setting it up to where I would like it and then shooting it quite a bit. It did feel nice & slim but overall it just didn't feel right for me. One of the few guns that I've owned where I actually regretted the purchase.

I've shot the XDs and Shield (and own a Shield) and I like those better, as they just feel a lot better in my hand than the LC9 did. Depends on the person, but that's from my perspective.

Yeah, looked at that one today too. It didn't have a safety on it though, at least not the model I looked at.

Glock 42 in .380. About the same size as the LC9. Slide racking is easier than my LC9 which is 2 years old and has about 500 rounds through it.

Thing of it is, both the LC9 & LC380 he has down there have purple grips on them, and I thought she might like that.

I think it is ugly as sin and you can get a better gun.

We've had one for a few months and my wife shoots it well enough. The biggest issue (as others have said) is the trigger. However her aim and comfort level were significantly increased once I installed the Crimson Trace laser. I also installed the heavier recoil spring, but I cant say it's been all that noticeable. I've also been kicking around the idea of buying trigger kit but I have to ask myself just how much money am I going to sink in to this thing.

no problems racking slide on LC9. Carried mine for 2 years+ before getting my S&W Shield. LC9 is on my CCW still.

Its not a range gun.
